.
The husband completed his work on the far left corner of the crap filled dungeon cellar and has now shifted to the far right.
.

.
The ceiling was up…
.

.
And painted…
.

.
And insulation folded into place.
I had to laugh because it was at this point he said, “Looks a lot different without all the stuff here huh?” And yes, technically he’s right … it did look different. But I’d be a lot more thrilled if the stuff migrated out of the cellar and to the dump instead of just shifting over to the newly completed section.
.

.
What’s the point in having a nicely cleaned, insulated, ceiling’d cellar if you can’t actually see it?
.
I think if you “shifted” once piece a week to the dump he’d never notice. Then again, that would take 108 years… 🙂

Yeah, I’ve thought of it. But I won’t live that long.

At least it’s “out of sight”? 😅 lol!!

Exactly. Though things do float up here now and then…

I’m curious: what is that white ‘thing’ that looks like the Leaning Tower of ?

In the last photo? Just a precariously balanced box covered with a towel. I have no idea what’s in it.

I dunno, I see plenty of room for more junk in that last photo!

That’s not at all helpful.

Hanging plywood on a ceiling by yourself is no mean feat. I’m impressed.

I’m called down to help every now and then, but he’s rigged up a “helper” which will be featured in a blog next week.

One piece at a time…
And he won’t notice for a time

The only time I got away with that was when we moved. What box? I didn’t pack that box….

Yes. That’s my room… or it was supposed to be.

One small piece at a time, snuck out and dumped elsewhere 😆

I really should.

Well, if the goal was to make things look different mission accomplished. Maybe this will lead to some of the things no longer being a thing down the road. Time will tell…

It will. Though it hasn’t turned out well in the past.

Love the exposed spiral ductwork. Having just written articles about ductwork for a metal fab company not long ago, I’m kind of obsessed over it.
God, I have a weird job…

Do you know the Marie Kondo method? You take everything OUT of the area and reassess if you want it; does it spark joy?
Let’s hope nothing sparks joy for him, and some (most) items depart your property.

Thats what I wanted him to do… go through it as he was shifting. So of course that didn’t happen.

I have an idea! Get him to catalogue all the stuff. This will help him to clarify its relevance. Of course it’s unlikely he’d do it, but you could make a bargain, i.e. he gets rid of 20 pieces and he can buy one pricey item?
Column 1 – what is it / description.
–
Column 2 – what is its purpose (is it of practical use? is it to sell? is it historically collectible/important? If so, who would be interested in it? Finding that out would be a hobby for him and maybe a road trip for you both). If it goes in an exhibition, maybe the info would say “donated by Mr Crapcollector Extraordinaire”
–
Column 3 – Is it in working order? What needs doing?
–
Column 4 – date last used. Of course this won’t get filled out. If it hasn’t been touched in a year – you know what to do.

Clearly you haven’t met my husband.
This would never happen.
Ever.

Ah, where would the joy of the reveal be, if you could see it immediately 😂😂

I’ve been living with this mess for decades. The thrill is gone…

Yes, that does need to all go really, unless there is something specific which is sentimental an heirloom perhaps ,.,

Nothing is sentimental. Just years of yard sale purchases and collecting.

Ah okay. Some collections can be valuable though so make sure you know what you are getting rid of 🙂 I am sure most isn’t worth much though judging by your comments …

There are a few good pieces here and there… but at this point I’ll be surprised if any of it ever leaves.

Well, at least you have the space for it. I hope you come to an agreement 🙂
