I’m a firm believer in the old adage just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. It holds true for numerous scenarios:

Can I buy three pairs of the same shoe in different colors because they look great and fit really well? I can, but I shouldn’t.

Can I drink half a bottle of tequila? I can, but I shouldn’t.

Can I beat my husband over the head when he drags more of his crap up from the cellar and deposits it all over the house? I can, but I shouldn’t.

Okay… bad example. I probably should do that last one, but you get the idea.

But one the things I know shouldn’t ever be done?

Wrong, in so many ways. These creatures went extinct fur a reason. Leave them in peace.

The polar ice caps are melting, sea levels are rising. Polar bears are already dying from the diminished ice flows, why in the world would you want to recreate an animal that thrived in sub zero temps when our planet is warming? It seems beyond cruel to me.

And two days after I read that article?

And if you’re okay with that? Next up on their wish list is a saber toothed tiger. Imagine the hilarity that will ensue in the neighborhood when that kitty gets loose.

    1. I’ve been fascinated with dinosaurs since I was 5 years old and staring up at their bones at the Museum of Natural History in NYC. But a living, breathing T Rex that could flatten my Subaru with one step? Nope.

      Nice try, Immy, but Eastern philosophies did not go “through you,” and they make much more sense than most Western philosophies , whether they go “through you” or not!

  7. How bizarre.

    I did a quick google to see the WHY behind the WHAT and learned that they think Woolly Mammoths wandering around the tundra may turn the tide of global warming by turning tundra into grasslands.

    Sounds like something a Dodo Bird might have thunk up.

  8. Why not just bring back all the apex predator’s that went extinct as well?? Like the T-Rex, the Velociraptor and the such? This is such a stupid idea about brining back those that went extinct, we can’t even try and save some of the animals we currently have, how is this in anyway a good idea?!?! Polar bears and snow leopards are going extinct, lets save them first.

  9. In a way I can appreciate bringing the dodo back. It did nothing to deserve its extinction, and they should have a second chance.
    But if we do bring them back, I hope they learn to avoid stupid humans at all costs.

    But what you did not tell us is who is supposedly funding the Dodo project. According to the internet this project is being paid for by, wait for it, THE CIA! I guess the dodo birds are so friendly the CIA thinks they can tirn them into spues, and send them all over the world.
    Who would ever suspect a dodo bird of being a spy?

  10. First off, stop reading MSNBD- and CNNLOL. The ice caps are melting on one side, but refreezing at a rapid rate on the other. BBC reported a few years ago in the Guardian that

    “Six years ago, the BBC reported that the Arctic, due to global warming, would be ice-free by this summer. That, clearly, has not happened. What has happened, instead, is that the Arctic ice cap has grown at a tremendous rate, by almost a million square miles. In other words, it has grown by a whopping 60%, due to constantly repeating periodic ocean cycles”

    The scientist do not WANT you to see that side because it closes a multi-trillion dollar cash cow for them. Why do you think that Florida is not underwater as predicted (by Al Gore) would happen by 2020?     Fact is, Florida, nor any coastline. has lost any measurable coastline since the Industrial age began. If you really believe, then go ahead and pre-purchase your beachfront property in South Georgia.

  16. Awful. We’re taking the habitat and causing ongoing extinctions of the animals that are still here. This is all so they can say “look at what I did”. Idiots. There’s damage to our soil and food security – I went to an edible insects forum, and scientists know they’ve destroyed the earth’s ability to yield and that we will eventually have no choice but to eat insects. But they won’t stop population growth because of the money some people make from it!

  17. Agree with you 100% about the general adage and the specific application. Madness and cruelty. I wonder which lucky ones would end up in a zoo for the masses who can’t make it to Siberia. These “scientists” can’t see past the ends of their noses.
