The husband’s birthday was this month and we’d made reservations at a lovely waterfront bistro. But like all well laid plans, an extra long and painful afternoon appointment with the dentist blew them out of the water.
Getting home 2 hours later than scheduled and being shot so full of Novocain he could barely close his mouth, made us cancel the reservations and slip into what turned out to be a sub par local Chinese buffet instead.

I had to laugh though.
The food might not have great, but there was someone’s leftover happy birthday streamer on the ceiling.

Lists. They’re everywhere these days. The top ten diners in your state. The top ten smells in the world. The top ten things people should have learned in school but didn’t. The top ten best Friday night funkin mods. (Yes, they’re all real lists, though I have no idea what the last one even means)
Who makes them, and who really cares? This particular idiot list said Portland Maine had some of the best beaches and guess what? It actually doesn’t have any.

Sorry to hear the Hubs dentist appointment left him out of sorts. It sucks going to the dentist period but on your birthday? That’s even worse, poor guy.

My friend bought one of those fancy high dollar cat gyms and threw a small party for the acquisition. I brought an empty beer case box rescued from the stores trash bin and put it by the cat house.

I’ve watched people serving themselves at Chinese Buffets – one spoon for all dishes, tasting with serving spoon, dipping fingers into sauces to taste – so I can no longer bring myself to eat at one…🤔 The broccoli (calibrese?) looks particularly awful!

Sadly some people behave in the same way however ‘posh’ the buffet – and I’ve been to a few swish ones too – they are not to be trusted!

All sanitary concerns aside, that was some seriously ugly Chinese food. I as the inventor of fung pi, have a deep knowledge of badly made Asian food, and that’s definitely some right there. I hope the dental procedure works out well and you get to go to the place you really like.

It’s a shame because I love a good Asian buffet. Sadly most of them closed during Covid and never reopened.

The leftover birthday decoration hanging from the ceiling was funny, but no trip to the dentist is ever funny, especially the way this one sounds. Perhaps a second birthday celebration is in order here? Maybe go to the beach in Portland lol.

Ogunquit got listed on Top 20 Beach Towns . . . I’ve walked the Marginal Way there, but it ain’t no beach. 😀

Bummer about your husband’s birthday plans. My old inner perfectionist surfaces on my birthday and I want (and expect) everything to go perfectly. Naturally, sometimes I’m disappointed.
