.
Lord Dudley Mountcatten has been staring at the living room heat vent.
.

.
I mean, for hours at a time.
.

.
And it’s beginning to freak me out.
.

.
I can’t see anything.
I can’t hear anything.
And even after removing the vent and poking around inside I didn’t see or hear anything.
.

.
And yet…
.

.
Every single day, there he is.
.

.
Waiting for something… *gulp, someone?*…. to rise from the depths.
.

.
If only he could talk….

It’s about a rubber duck that was looking behind him during a bath. Saved his life.

Cats hear lots of things human are incapable of hearing, but really he is just waiting for some moving air, like in winter when the heat is blowing. If you can turn on your fan without turning on the heat he will love you for two forevers, maybe even three.

Oddly enough he never sits in front of them in the winter when the heat blows…

All five of my cats do. And most every cat I ever had did. I guess Maine winters aren’t that cold after all…

I’m sure he’s just waiting for the commotion from underneath your house (wind/Momma squirrel) to subside. Cats are peculiar creatures, lol. I love Boo’s comment, if you do see a red balloon…..RUN!

Underneath our house is a 2,000 square foot basement. Momma Red better not
be down there.

I am not easily spooked, but I did have on cat that would suddenly freeze, and stare with his hackles up at an exterior wall .. I made sure my gun was handy.

Have you got flyscreens on the windows? Maybe worth opening a window and getting some gentle breezes in to mimic him being outdoors?

We do, and I do. He has one window he sits in every day and talks to the birds.

Ahhh! I’m on a layover in Amsterdam and I’m already desperately missing “the kids”. Dudley posts may just kill me.

Trying to figure out a cat’s motivation is an exercise in futility. He probably just likes the feel of that particular patch of carpet or something.
