Every Thanksgiving I’m asked to bring my Crab Toasties appetizer. And since I rarely make them at home because my husband doesn’t like crabmeat… I’m happy to oblige.
.

.
It’s a treat that takes a good chunk of 💰 seeing that fresh crabmeat is currently $30 a pound and I doubled the batch and needed two pounds, but holidays are made for splurging.
Use fresh crabmeat… do not, I repeat DO NOT! use canned… here’s the recipe.
It’s quick, easy to make and oh so yummy.
.
** Crab Toasties **
1 pound cooked crabmeat
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup mozzarella cheese
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 package Thomas English muffins
.

.
Mix first 5 ingredients together
Quarter English muffins and arrange on cookie sheet.
Spread crab mixture on muffins heavily, sprinkle with paprika and parsley flakes if desired.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
.

.
Easy peasy, nice and cheesy.
Line cookie sheet with parchment paper for quick clean up.
👍

When we lived in the PNW, we semi-regularly attended the Astoria Wine & Seafood Festival. One of our go-tos was the crab toast. It was so amazing, we figured out how to make it ourselves…and that recipe is very similar to yours. Well worth the splurge.

That looks delicious! I bought Canned Crab to make Crab Cakes but I would much prefer fresh Crab. I may wait until I get some money.

I can’t do canned crab. Or chicken for that matter…

Yummy! But aren’t you allergic? Or is that just lobster?

Just lobster. Which is so bizarre…

I’m surprised you are allowed to live in Maine being allergic to lobster.

I don’t advertise it.

That looks spectacular. But, living in a land locked state, I’m hard pressed to find fresh crab meat.

That’s a shame. Canned is too nasty to contemplate…

Yep I know. But I have found frozen crab meat and I might give it a try.

If it was freshly picked then frozen that could work. Just make sure to pat it dry and blot excess moisture.

Our crab season has been postponed due to the whale migration. So you don’t add any lemon?

Not with these, no. Cheese, garlic and pepper. You could try squeezing some on afterward … but taste them first.
