There are too many choices!

.

Floor shopping continues and the other day I decided to check out some solid hardwoods.

.

.

As usual I brought my trusty sample piece of broken trim to color coordinate shades. This cherry had potential…

.

.

And while this Acacia was spot on for color…

.

.

It was way too wild in application.

.

.

This oak looked promising…

.

.

But turned red in a hurry.

.

.

Cumaru?

.

.

Never heard of it, but it looks too much like a checkerboard for my taste.

And since I don’t want to replace this floor right now…

.

.

I’m leaning towards something with a bit of grey in the tone as it will butt up against the kitchen in two spots.

.

.

Which is why I keep coming back to this one.

Thoughts?

  1. Yes, I like the last one as well. You have a good looking floor there, which makes the rest of the room’s contents “pop” rather than a situation where the floor is stealing the spotlight from the room and its contents.

  2. Will there be various wood furniture pieces, ie pine, rosewood and something else? That might be worth considering. I actually like the acacia. But have you considered a hand knotted Turkish rug? One of those outrageously expensive ones is on my bucket list.

      1. Print media is going out of fashion but I’d be going to a newsagent and look through some home decor magazines. There might be some interesting tips as well as looks for food for thought. Happy planning!

  3. Red would be the most offensive to me. *sigh* This is so hard!! I don’t mind the last one you shared in the post. When you add back your rug, it will tone down a bit too.
