.
When the weekend rolled around it was time for the husband and I to go to work.
.

.
Since having the living room stripped bare doesn’t happen very often we decided to take advantage and paint both the ceiling and the walls.
.

.
Husband did the ceiling…
.

.
I did the walls. Don’t criticize the paint on the baseboard trim, it’s all being ripped out and replaced anyway.
.

.
And no, I couldn’t talk the husband into letting me pick a color other than off white.
Change is not his friend.
🥴
.

.
Lord Dudley Mountcatten was inconvenienced yet again.
.

.
And let us know in no uncertain terms he was not pleased.
.

.
This window viewing platform was nowhere near as comfortable as the couch.
And as the day came to an end with both of us moaning and groaning about sore muscles and aching feet… my walls looked good.
The husband’s ceiling?
.

.
Not so much.
.

.
He actually thought he was done after one coat.
Silly man.
😉
.
That’s wishful thinking that he thought he would only get away with one coat.

Overhead work is hard. He was just hoping…

Yes. Overhead work is hard. I am always glad to get that part out of the way.

I am so glad my husband trusts my colour and design choices. He only questioned once back in 1986. But I said trust me and he has been doing that ever since.

That’s usually the way it is here, but since retirement? He’s more involved…. damn it.

Last time I painted a ceiling I used that paint that goes on pink and turns white when it dries. I would still rather have taken a beating. That pretty well sums it up for all painting, except for something small.

I don’t mind the painting, it’s the prep work I hate.

It wasn’t until I showed him the picture that he agreed it needed more work.

I hate painting ceilings! Definitely worth bringing in a professional.

Unless your professional is busy with other things, charges by the hour and is slow as molasses.

Ugh. My neck aches just from reading about painting the ceiling! On the other hand, not having to tape and protect the precious baseboards before painting walls? Now that’s my kind of painting! (Prep is the worst part, if you ask me.)

Taping is always the worst because I never do it properly and still have to do touch ups.

And it’s at that uncomfortable kneel/crouch level.

I know the amount of his talents is endless, but they don’t include painting. 😉
How fun to paint, said no one ever! However, doing it without worrying about dropping paint on the floors or trim is much better.

We didn’t enjoy it, but couldn’t pass up the opportunity…

Painting is like a Midwest winter: one coat is never enough.
