This just keeps getting better.
Not.

Several risks? I’m guessing there will be more than that.

So once it lies, it won’t be able to stop?
Great.

Lying, and manipulating humans to do its bidding.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you….

Oh look, AI is learning to be a politician, 🤣.

It seems to be the only thing it’s mastered. Aren’t we lucky?

Phillip K. DICK wrote a short story in the 50s or 60s where robots started making their own robots, and started a war with humans because humans were determined not to be worthy of occupying such a wonderful world as we were all living in. The robots decided they could be better caretakers of the planet than humans — I don’t think they were taught to lie.
Unfortunately AI is learning from people who routinely lie. It is not a stretch that they would learn some of humanity’s worst attributes.

You probanly eon’t be around when AI takes over co pletely. And if they try, humans will jyst have to pull thecordout of the socket, or switch a breaker. No dnefby, no takeover.

I hope I’m not around, but to be honest I doubt it will be that easy. Unless we kiss technology goodbye altogether…

I was wondering if the ability to lie would make AI indistinguishable from humans. Discover Magazine asked whether other animals lie and distinguished between “lying” and “deception”. It gets pretty deep and doesn’t come up with a definitive answer.
According to the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy (quoted by Discover), the most commonly agreed to definition of a lie is, “a statement made by one who does not believe it with the intention that someone else shall be led to believe it.”
The Washington Post says “The Fact Checker generally avoids describing Trump’s falsehoods as ‘lies’ since that suggests intent.” Somehow the Washington Post is unsure if djt “intends” for us to believe his falsehoods or maybe they’re unsure if he actually believes them himself. Of the three possibilities, I’m not sure which is worst.

When it comes to Trump it’s all the worst.

I thought Trump had the patent on artificial intelligence. He had manipulation down to a science long before AI was came along.

I wouldn’t call what Trump has intelligence. Artificial or otherwise…

Pardon the typo (omit the word “was”) in my previous reply.

I was discussing this earlier today. It will soon be impossible to know what’s fact vs fiction.
I read that the ChatGPT-4o release finally takes us to the movie Her, helped by having a voice very similar to ScarJo, who voiced the OS in Her.

Sci fi movies have been very prophetic.
This is not a good thing….

I saw a snippet of The Jetsons cartoon where a kid was watching tv on a watch… and here we are!

Oh, the Jetsons were way ahead of their time. They had Zoom calls.

Oh, yeah. I forgot that!!
At one of my jobs, our laser eye surgery device ended up looking like Rosie, their robot maid.

I welcome the chance to outsmart AI at every opportunity. Game on!
