If you remember, I’ve been fruitlessly shopping for coffee and end tables. Ever since we got the new living room furniture I’ve been looking but not finding. Just when I was about to give up and resign myself to living with the old beaten up pieces…Amazon to the rescue.
I never thought about looking there for decent furniture. Figured it would all be pressboard and veneered crap. But when you’re desperate? You take a chance.
I started with the smallest end table.

And it wasn’t half bad.
.

.
Simple to assemble and made from surprisingly solid wood. Since I had good luck with that, I ordered the second slightly larger end table.

.
Mission style, which blends nicely with the new dining room.
.

.
With a drawer and shelf in surprisingly nice hard solid wood.

I’m so tickled with the quality and remarkably low price, I’m going to order the third and largest piece for in front of the couch.
I’m thrilled.
My husband? Not so much…
.

.
Since he’s the one who has to put them all together.
😉

Oddly enough Target has some very nice solid wood furniture. I bought an end table from them (on-line only). Size, shape and color are just fab and it came in one piece – solid wood construction – no assembly required. I wanted to get another but they no longer carry it. I have yet to try turning it over to see if there is a manufacturers label on it somewhere…Those are really nice (aside from the color).

They’re not as red toned in person as they are in the pictures. And the quality is just as good as some of the $800 -$1,000 tables I saw in the stores.

Yeah Mr. River looks like he’s about to toss those instructions into the fire, lol. They are beautiful tables. I’ve been looking for some in a dark wood to go with my Ashley living room couches, but like you haven’t had any luck. But I’m going to try Amazon now!

Oh I forgot to ask, what is that little oval piece in front of that trinket box on the second to last photo?

Both of those pieces are old family silver. The box was purchased by my grandfather after WWI as a donation to the Belgian Relief Fund. All the allies are represented. The small oval is an 18th century French snuff box.

That’s funny, up here most of the tables I saw were dark. I was looking for a medium stain and these were the only ones I’ve seen. They’re not quite as red in person as the pictures make them look.

Cannot possibly be harder to assemble than Ikea.

My brother was in the Navy. He says, “A bitchin’ sailor is a happy sailor.” (LOL, he was an officer.)

He’s a tearer-downer, for sure, but he’s also a builder-back-up-againer. I would think it would be right up his alley…

I get that. People are always saying how I should travel architect everyone else’s trips, but honestly, it’s not nearly as fun.
