Momma chuck and her one remaining baby were at the feeding station yesterday and after I took this picture, I realized what else was there.

Look in the two flat bird feeders.

.
Two red b*tches.

.
Two!
Batten down the hatches.
That’s double trouble for sure.
😱

Wow – obstacle course, swing, free food, and cat-and-human taunting all in one. I’m coming back as a squirrel!

Squirrels are why we stopped attempting to feed the birds. They ruined the fun.

I love the greys, they eat but aren’t destructive. These Red Devils chew right thru walls!

We have squirrels on campus, and we thought they weren’t red. The was a students car parked for a week and a half near our building because they had traveled for a conference. The student came back and found the plastic under side panel near her trunk had a hole in it. She opened the truck only to find a red menace had made her nest there. Being an agricultural student, she caught the red squirrel and told my boss she drove it 67 miles near a pistachio farm and dropper her off. Only confirming that they are that destructive.

Everyone thinks they’re cute and harmless .. until they’re repairing the holes their cute little teeth have made.

Any idea how they climbed up that pole?

I watch them shimmy right up it every day, quick as can be.

Cathy suggested using some Crisco (Also great for pancakes) with some really hot pepper oil in it. Sounds plausible; even if it doesn’t drive them away it should save you a little on your seemingly prodigious birdseed bill.
