Let’s play.

.

Because it’s Friday.

I’m not a kitchen gadget person.

I don’t have a Panini press, an espresso machine or a waffle maker.

So 6 for me, which should really be 7…. because our air fryer is in our toaster/convection oven and I’ve never once used it.

How many appliances do you not own?

  1. 1 – an air fryer, though I might be able to fudge it to 2 as we don’t own a break maker outright (used to) but our rice maker doubles as a bread maker. And if not using something for 20 years counts (our iron), then I can go as high as 3.

  2. No iron, robot vacuum, dehumodifier, rice cooker, food processor, or bread maker = 6, But from your list of the basic 5, in adfition to the iron, we have no coffee maker OR COFFEE in our house, so I think that foubles the value to 12!

      1. Fruit juices mixed wjith csrbonized water, or sugar-free caffeine-free colas for something different. I like teas, but can’t be bothered to make them anymore. By the time they are drinkable they are too cold to enjoy.

  3. Like Liz, I don’t own seven of them. In fact, I’m making bread, this morning, with NO BREAD MACHINE. Later this week, I’ll be making rice WITHOUT A RICE COOKER. I DO have a deep fryer though… why was THAT left out?

    1. I got a bread machine as a wedding gift. It had a battery in it that it said you had to return it to the factory for replacement. That seemed like a lot to spend for a button battery so I took the machine apart and couldn’t find the battery. I think the machine is still here but it hasn’t made bread for >20 years. I have the bread bowl I inherited from my grandma. That still works after 100 years. After mixing by hand, the dough rises in the bowl.

  4. 8 for me – it would be 9 but I’m being honest about the iron – I have one, it is in the box it came in and I used it once – it is easily 15(?) years old…and thanks for reminding me that it is in the back of the closet and I need to get rid of it.

      1. Nope. Well, I don’t iron much since retiring, but I ironed every week when I was working – until the pandemic when I switched from dress shirts to scrubs. Taught my son to iron. As a musician he owned more suits by the age of 16 than I’ve had in my life. He needed three different types of white dress shirts (regular white shirt and both black tie and white tie tuxedo shirts), not to mention colored shirts for solo appearances. They all needed ironing.

  5. But… waffle iron & panini aren’t on the list. I’m 6 from the list (no microwave); 8 if you add panini and waffle. Buuuut… I just got a mini cake baker… so maybe that balances out everything?

  6. Six, but that number is screwy. No dishwasher – DEFINITELY not by choice, but we don’t have the room for one currently without expensive kitchen modifications. No food processor, only because ours broke. No bread maker because Tara didn’t see the value and made me get rid of mine when she moved in. (To be fair, she does make great bread without).
