It is said man cannot live on bread alone.
I beg to differ.
We dropped in to one of our favorite restaurants the other day for a quick lunch.

Royal River Grill House rarely disappoints.

One cranberry margarita in…

We enjoyed the views and the virtually empty space.

It was a beautiful autumn day, everyone must have had outdoor plans.

A new item had been added to the menu recently and we took full advantage.

You can have your charcuterie boards filled with meat…
I’m all about the bread and butter.

.
With a cup of creamy herbed clam chowder?
Damn near perfect.

Yuuum!!
I sometimes reminisce about the bread&butter at an Italian restaurant that’s a little to inconvenient to visit.
Do you treat yourself to fancy butter at home? Devonshire Cream butter is my fave, but I can’t find it anymore. I think I currently have french butter waiting for some extra good bread.

Ps: I wish you were here… a local gastro pub is all decked out for xmas and has about specialty cocktails for the holidays, each served in a different holiday mug. Pluuusss…. “mini chicken pot pie bites” as a special menu addition. I need a drinkin buddy!!

Omg. 🥰
But you are slipping, Mrs. Maine. The second drink behind the cranberry margarita remained nameless… 😎

That was just my husband’s beer. Allagash white.

I like the cheese on charcuterie boards, but my husband can (and does) have all the meat. That butter board looks fabulous.

It was a perfect meal.
Everyone dyes chowder up here, but so few do it properly…

I see there are also oyster crackers! Despite the bread – a must for clam chowder everywhere I guess!

I’ve never tried a butter board (shocking, given where I live) but I know they’re trendy. Definitely something I could get on board with!
