I like a good science fiction now and then and this series from AppleTV fits my bill.
.

.
No blood and gore, no battling starships, no rabid alien monsters… just a thought provoking, dystopian, futuristic what if. I watched the first two seasons and happily await the third. In the meantime, I bought the book trilogy for more backstory and details.
.

.
After seeing and enjoying Billy Bob Thornton in Landman, I decided to take a chance on this older series about a brilliant but washed up alcoholic lawyer. Season one was great, season two was a little strange. I’m currently half way through season three and have yet to form an opinion.
.

.
The long awaited season two of Severance is here and I’m all in. A weirder, more mind bending show you’re not apt to find… and I’m here for it.
And finally, just because it’s nice to watch something pure, sweet and foul language free once in a while….
.

.
The PBS reboot of the James Herriot classic. My late father was British and loved the books he read to me as a child. Watching this scenically beautiful show makes me feel closer to my dad and often brings me to tears.
But in a good way.

Silo is on my radar to see as is Severance, but I probably don’t have the right streaming services for them. I watched the original All Creatures Great & Small, but have been hesitant to watch the new one. What if it isn’t as good as the first? How will I cope?

I resisted the new version for a long time because I loved the old Creatures as well. But my husband talked me into to it and after a few episodes, I was hooked. This one goes into a lot more detail with personal relationships. Give it a chance, it’s well acted and beautifully shot.

Will do. Must get out of my own way.

I haven’t watched SILO but I have watched Goliath. I love BBT in this series, too bad they only made three seasons of it. Yes it’s weird but I do love it even more because of that, lol. I have not watched Severance yet, because it hasn’t peaked my interest.

Silo was very good.
And there were four seasons of Goliath so you may have missed one.
Severance is quirky and quite odd, which I like. Just when I think I’ve figured out… I’m wrong.

I probably did miss one season of Goliath, but for a while I didn’t have Apple TV so that could be it, lol.

I watch Goliath on Amazon Prime.

I remember watching the original All Creatures with my dad. I haven’t seen the modern one. It’s on PBS but I’d need to binge the older seasons to be caught up.
No Paradise? I’m hooked on it. Also no overt violence, at least through ep 6.
I’m holding off on Severance season 2 until I can binge it. The details are so important, but I can barely remember them from between episodes, let alone a week.
Silo is on my “check it out” list. There are about 5 other series that I’m only part way through.

The only way you can watch previous seasons on PBS is to subscribe to their streaming service. I missed the first two years of this All Creatures and still haven’t seen them.
Never heard of Paradise, do tell.

Paradise is on Hulu and current. Ep 7 just dropped on Tues. There is almost nothing I can say that wouldn’t give away a plot point. Sterling K Brown is an FBI agent protecting the President, played by James Marsden… that’s about all I’ll share. The intrigue starts early and all episodes are full of twists and cliffhangers. It’s really well done!

Oh, okay. I don’t have Hulu.

I read the “Silo” books years ago…had no idea they’d turned them into a TV series. But alas, I’m not adding another streaming service; we already have plenty.
Having enjoyed Billy Bob in “Landman” too, I might have to check out “Goliath.”

Goliath is good, but I can’t really say it’s one of my favorites.
How’s the silo book series… worth reading?

It’s been a long time, but I do remembering enjoying the series!

I really liked Goliath but I’d buy a subscription to watch Billy Bob Thornton peel potatoes..

I haven’t any of those. My husband is watching Landman now and really likes it.

That was a good one.

I will have to watch it. The other night I watched “No Country for Old Men.” Great movie, but more violence than I like.

I want to get AppleTV just to watch Severance. For so many reasons it looks like something I’d love. I’d take Dickinson as a bonus. And I’m enjoying All Creatures so much but good heavens Tristan needs to shave off that mustache.

I really like AppleTV. I got it for Ted Lasso and the Morning Show, both excellent. Then I fell in love with Shrinking. Now Severance and Silo. Well worth the money.
But yes, Tristan looks like a 1940’s porn star,… if there was such a thing.

I tried several episodes of Severance but after a while I just couldn’t take it anymore. I think the office setting – all minimalist white and spare with fluorescent lighting – got to me. Gimme some color!! Also, the plot wasn’t moving fast enough for me. Haven’t heard of the others. I love period dramas, so I just finished The Empress on Netflix. It’s about Empress Elizabeth (“Sisi”) of Austria and the Hapsburgs. It’s particularly meaningful because many years ago we visited the Hofburg Palace in Vienna and its “Sisi Museum” with her collection of magnificent doll houses.

It’s the white minimalist setting that makes it creepy! Have to admit you’re the first person I’ve talked to who didn’t like it, but to each their own. 😉
I like a good period piece as well, don’t have Netflix though.

I started (and was enjoying) Silo, but I seem to have fallen off somewhere around episode four? I need to refocus and get back on, because WHO IS WASHING THE WINDOW? I need to know.
I love Severance—SOOOOOO weird, but so good!
I love that you’re having a redo with your Dad’s beloved books; what a sweet memory for you.

I was hooked on Silo from the get go. You don’t know who washed the window? Catch up girl…
