So many streaming services, so little time.

I’ve never been a big fan of Pierce Brosnan but his steely portrayal of an Irish gangster in this new (raw and violent but extremely watchable) series may change my mind. The fact that it also stars Helen Mirren and Tom Hardy doesn’t hurt.
.

I was hesitant to start this quirky Irish comedy/drama but was hooked from episode one. Equal parts tragedy and heartwarming comedy, it’s family at its best.. and absolute worst. The stunning scenery of coastal Ireland alone is worth a look.

There’s been a lot of buzz around this fast paced medical drama so I thought I’d give it a whirl. At first glance it seemed formulaic. Set in an overworked, understaffed emergency room in Pittsburgh, it had the usual stressed out doctors and nurses with personal problems and an over abundance of medical terminology. Each episode represents one tragic hour of a single day and though I didn’t see anything ground breaking or unfamiliar with this particular show at first, the heartfelt, poignant and often tragic scenes make for an intensely watchable show. Its portrayal of the gritty horror inner city E.R’s face on a daily basis made me admire the real medical personnel even more than I already do.
Kudos to all the real doctors and nurses who literally hold our lives in their hands.

I’ve stuck with this bizarre train wreck of a series from the beginning without really knowing why. The story line is crazy, the characters far from from lovable… but like a highway accident, you can’t seem to look away.

.
Loving season one, I was all in for another deep dive into the Yellowstone origin story. And while some parts were equally as good, overall I was annoyed at the endless (bring them home already!) storyline and (spoiler alert) very unhappy ending.
.
Looks like Brosnan is quietly trying to amass some retirement money. Looks like he’s making a couple of films a year, now.

He’s supposed to be the main character here, but Hardy and Mirren steal the show.

Isn’t it bizarre that a woman her age is considered an “action hero” type actor?

He’s 8 years younger. But to be honest she’s more of a schemer in this one…

The Pitt was terrific! And starring Noah Wyle – so cool. Is this what’s called meta? If The Pitt runs as long as ER – I won’t be around to see it LOL

I was surprised how much I liked it. Binged it in a few days and can’t wait for season two in January.

I wonder if they had all the episodes ready from the get-go. I bet they did. I watched from the first drop and it was one episode a week. I don’t remember the last time I tracked the day of the week just to watch a tv show. And you had to wait until 9pm to see the new episode. Yeah, if I could have I would have binged it.

They probably did, most shows are shot way ahead of release. I read all the actors had to attend a two week medical boot camp to get familiar with the machines and jargon.

I’m glad you gave The Pitt a chance, I loved it and am just hanging on every episode. I also very much love Mobland, mainly for Tom Hardy 😍. But honestly, I’m hoping that they off Mave at the one of this season, she’s a horrible person. I love Helen Mirren and she’s a spectacular actress. So I love hating her character because she’s such a great talent, her character is devious, loathsome and corrupt. She gets on my nerves so much, but I come back each episode to see what the Harrigan’s have done now to have Harry fix for them now. I hope he kills Eddie, that douchebag deserves to be offed!

Eddie definitely needs to go. What a weasel. But you can’t axe Maeve, every show needs a villainess.

I think that either Bella or Serafina will be the next villain if Maeve is sent to live with the fishes, lol.

I do not have any streaming services. I still manage to always have something to watch. I really don’t understand the need to pay extra for streaming.

I didn’t stream for a very long time but AppleTV has some of the best shows right now so it’s worth a few bucks a month to me.

I gave MobLand a try but couldn’t make it through the first episode — I’m weird about mob violence shows though so it’s a personal thing. Very excited to check out The Pitt now. Thanks for the recommendations!

Mobland is definitely violent, I get that it’s not for everyone. The Pitt really grew on me, you have to stick with it.

It looks like there is some good watchable programmes here. I don’t pay for viewing unless DVDs. So unless I get to see some other way eventually, later on, I probably won’t get to see. But I would watch most or all of them.

Understood. There are so many streaming services and you can’t subscribe to them all. I have Amazon Prime, AppleTV, HBO max and Paramount plus but the Prime and Max are free because I already have subscriptions.

We’ve been rewatching ER (along with Frasier, Friends, and Seinfeld, in an effort to recreate Thursday night’s “Must See TV” of the 90s) for a while now and loving it as much as we did back in our 20s. All that to say that Pitt has been on our radar and something we want to watch. I can’t remember if we have the correct streaming service for it, though.

The Pitt is HBO Max, and if you like ER you’ll love this updated version with an older Noah Wylie running the show.

Yeah. Too many streaming services, and the desire to see a particular show is not enough of an enticement for me to spend another $9.99 a month.

There always seems to be one show on each service I want to watch.
On purpose, no doubt.

We’re watching The Pitt too—it’s really good. I love Noah Wyle. We watched a few episodes of ER last month, and it still holds up. I loved that show when it first aired.

I’m glad I stuck with it, I almost didn’t.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’m always about 10 years behind what is currently available so someday I may get to these… although Bad Sisters might draw me in sooner.

That was a quirky one, but I loved it.

I enjoyed the first seasons of Bad Sisters, although it was a slow start for me. Is there another season?
I tried to watch Yellowjackets, but it just wasn’t grabbing me. I did love 1923!
Mobland and The Pitt sound interesting….

They’re throwing around the idea of a third season of Bad Sisters but nothing definite yet. And to be honest I wish I’d never started Yellowjackets.

Apparently, The Pitt was supposed to be a sequel to ER, with Noah Wyle reprising his character of Dr. John Carter, but Michael Crichton’s estate wouldn’t release the rights. Regardless, this one is on my radar too. Someday. I’m in the middle of too many other shows now to add yet another one!
