What I’m watching.

.

On the recommendation of a friend, I’m enjoying this first series even though I thought I wouldn’t.

.

.

It’s quirky with some interesting characters and proves having it all isn’t what it’s cracked up to be.

Season two of the fungus among us… and I’m all in. Not being familiar with the game, I admit episode two was a shock.

.

.

Sugar started out as a private detective show with an homage to old Hollywood glamour and noir. A missing girl, family scandals, sex trafficking bad guys… and then.

The weirdest most unexpected twist I never saw coming.

This Apple original series was phenomenal. Set in WWII occupied France it tells the story of Christian Dior and his French resistance fighting sister as well as the self serving Nazi collaborating Coco Chanel. Fashion, family, the horrors of war, the resilience of the human spirit,… it’s beautifully set, well acted and depicts a part of history I never gave much thought to before.

Color me impressed.

  1. Well what a surprise, I’m going to look into all of these. They sound awesome and something I’d definitely get into. Because I’ve stopped watching Mob Land, I got too frustrated with Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren’s characters.

  2. I’ll have to check out “The New Look.” Catherine Dior is a pretty amazing historical figure. We both enjoyed “The Residence”–great cast and characters for the ensemble murder mystery. (Only two nitpicks about birding and poison that could have been better researched.)

  3. Some of the city scenes in the Last of Us were shot in Nanaimo! I walked downtown as they were cleaning up afterwards and it was quite eerie to see how it was transformed for the show. Movie magic! Now I need to finish watching it. Thanks for the recommendations, Rivergirl!
