What I’m watching.

.

My husband falls asleep during every episode…

But I never miss a Ken Burns documentary. And while this one is epic in many ways, I have to admit there are a few too many battle sequences and not enough gripping personal stories to keep viewers riveted. His Civil War masterpiece set the bar very high.

.

.

There was so much buzz about this movie I had to watch. Unfortunately that was two hours of my life I’ll never get back.

It was horrible. Hard pass.

And just when I thought that was the worst movie I could find…

.

.

Holy hell.

I read the buzz about this being a treatise on beauty and the fight against aging so I was not expecting the stupidest, most ridiculous, literally laughable turn this one took. Hollywood really has lost its mind.

Thankfully some of my favorite series have returned to save the day.

.

.

The Mayor has his hands full this season with a brother on the wrong side of the bars and a crooked warden running the prison. This show is raw, violent and often times hard to watch… but I’m here for it.

.

.

The Morning Show has been a consistently superior program and this season does not disappoint. Well cast, well acted…. there’s never a dull moment.

.

.

Landman rocks. I never thought I would be the least bit interested in the down and dirty world of oil production but this powerhouse show makes you sit up and pay attention. Season one was amazing, but this year they added Sam Elliot and Andy Garcia.

Need I say more?

Never having been a Stallone fan, I was surprised how much I liked Tulsa King when it first started. But I have to admit the new season is leaving me a bit cold. I can’t really explain why, it just seems a little off and rapidly approaching campy.

My husband stumbled on this sweet, feel good movie the other day. Based on a true story, if you’re an animal lover?

You’ll smile… and cry. I guarantee it.

  1. I adore anything Ken Burns does, he produces some of the best documentaries that exist. His documentary on The Dust Bowl and Jazz music are epic! I could have warned you about that stupid movie Baby Girl and the Substance had you asked, lol. They are both horrible, and I do mean HORRIBLE. Although I do love Demi Moore in Landman, she’s a powerhouse. I have not yet watched Mayor of Kingstown and I will not watch the Morning Show because Reese Witherspoon stomps on my nerves as an actress. But Landman and Tulsa King are my never miss shows.

  2. The Ken Burns documentary is a little too preachy and I also fall asleep. I liked Death by Lightning – the acting isn’t that great but the story is interesting. Stallone with a baseball bat – ugh!

  3. I actually turned off Babygirl…and I almost did the same with The Substance. Neither I saw in the theatre, and happy I did not. I did think The Substance had a decent first and second act, but the last hour or so was soooo off-the-rails I couldn’t believe it. It truly sported an OMG finale.

  4. I saw The Substance in the theater because it was promoted as a horror film, what it actually is a ridiculous at times gross satire (Dennis Quaid eating Shrimp). That eventually devolves into an unnecessary 30 min of the genre Splatter film. I found it boring and a total waste of time, i thought it was insane that it was considered Oscar Worthy.

  5. We only watched the first season of Tulsa Kings. Loved it, but life got in the way, so we’re planning on going back to the start and catching up.

And Landman is one of my favorite current shows, hands down.

  6. I might have gotten through one hour of Baby Girl before I quit, but sadly, I didn’t do the same with The Substance. I remember reading that it was nominated for something… good lord, it was the stupidest thing I’ve seen in years!

My husband likes Tulsa King. It does nothing for me, although I do giggle at Sylvester’s stagger. We’re ready to start season 2 of Landman; we think it’s good, but pretty far-fetched.
