.
My husband had to take a few things to the dump recently, and you know what happens when he does that.
Our “dump” is more of a recycling center… complete with a gift shop where everything is free, and there in lies the problem.
.

.
He came home with a table and chairs.
.

.
Do we need a table and chairs from the dump?
We do not.
.

.
But my husband couldn’t resist bringing it home and fixing it up to sell.
.

.
He cleaned, he polished, he tightened, he glued.
.

.
I told him to recover the horrible (plastic? vinyl?) seats but that was a bridge too far.
.

.
So now there’s a table and chair set clogging up the man cave/Barn Mahal.
.

.
Sigh…
🥴
.
And there’s my morning chuckle. Thank you, River’s husband.

I can see the humor.

Now all you need is a waitstaff. Can I reserve a table for four for lunch today?

Well, there is a full bar and beer on draft…

Wow that should bring in a pretty penny. Especially here at Christmas time when everyone is looking for gift ideas.

I’d happily give it away at this point….

I’m gonna side with your husband here. Except for the upholstery, it looks like he did a damn fine job.
I may have to reevaluate my opinion of your sister-in-law…

When it’s still here 3 months from now I’ll have the last laugh.
Or not…

It gets old quickly…

Hey, count your blessings — at least he repaired them! My husband used to save broken furniture and appliances, flatly refusing to let me get rid of them, on the grounds that they could be repaired. Of course, he never had the time or energy to do it himself, but if he thought something could conceivably be repaired, I wasn’t allowed to throw it away. Thank goodness he finally stopped doing it, or our house and garage would be completely taken over with broken furniture and appliances.

Yes, he spent an afternoon fixing them. But if they don’t sell, and they haven’t yet, we’re stuck with more old stuff nobody wants.
And he has way too much stuff already!

It gave him a nice project to work on. Also, he could return it all spiffed up where he found it!

Hey, I don’t know what kind of dump you have up in Maine, but that is a pretty nice table and chairs if you ask me. He did fix it and he could have reupholstered the chairs (which is an easy fix) but, he did what he thought would sell that set, lol.

The seats are awful. If he’d been willing to fix those he’d have a better chance of selling it…

Just waiting for yard sale season!

Maybe there’s a positive side to this. He’ll have to have a tag sale to sell that, right? Maybe he sells a bunch of other stuff that same day.
Well, I tried.

There won’t be any tag sales for at least 5 months.
I don’t want to walk around it that long…

One man’s trash is another man’s…trash. Actually, that whole set looks pretty good and sturdy from here. I think you’ll find a buyer…eventually. But yeah, I would have “modified” the seats aka got anything else to suffice as a seat cover.🪑

True story: we were in an antique store in Oshkosh last week. I grabbed a handful of wooden yardsticks and told Tara, “Rivergirl’s husband would love these!”
“What does he do with them?” she wondered.
“Nothing!” I said.
You are married to a legend, my friend.

Nothing is basically what he does with everything he collects.
It’s maddening.

I tried to explain this to Tara but couldn’t come up with a decent explanation.

And there’s no rhyme or reason to his collections. Yard sticks, card decks, old razor blade boxes, wooden hangers.
Why?
