This is Sunshine Larry, the unofficial Mayor of Bath, Maine.

Sunny was a stray cat who lived in a public park and made a lot of friends.

And even though he has a nice home with a loving family now….

Sunny still likes to wander.

And has become a bit of an internet sensation.

Sadly, I’ve never met Sunny in person.

  1. He looks pissed off in every photo but the last one he looks genuinely upset, like he saying “but i love the hampton Inn they have free breakfast”

  6. That last one reminds me of a favorite children’s book “No Cats Allowed” about a cat who moves into a Vancouver hotel during the rain. The manager takes him in but says that, when the rain stops the cat’s got to go. (Of course, it rains most of the time there.)

  9. I love stories like this, and you can so tell its not AI. What interested me the most were the police cars that have “Bath Police” on them. I though that was hilarious, because well BATH POLICE! Sort of like the police cars in Sandwich Mass, they have “Sandwich Police” on the sides….LMAO. Sunny looks like he’s having the time of one of his nine lives as the Mayor. More power to him!

    1. Ha! I can’t believe that never occurred to me. Bath is just another town up here. Home to Bath Iron Works, a large shipbuilder and major employer for our state.
      Bath Police. Too funny.
      Illegal use of loofah. $250 fine.

  11. I was just reading about an Oregon cat named Nutmeg, who hangs out at a local CVS pharmacy and was named the unofficial mayor of Portland. Also a tabby, also a local celebrity. Small world!
