So I’m an 80’s girl.
I grew up with MTV, parachute pants and yes…
Big hair.
Okay, not that big.
But it’s fair to say I went through a considerable amount of hair spray in that decade and did my part to widen the hole in the ozone layer.
Fashions may have changed….
But my naturally curly hair still requires a vat of industrial adhesive and a trowel bit of work.
I’m always on the look out for new products and stumbled across this the other day:
Helmet Head sounded about right, so I bought it.
But what did Cationic Hydration Interlink mean?
Definition of cationic. 1 : of or relating to cations. 2 : characterized by an active and especially surface-active cation. a cationic dye.
Thanks for nothing Webster.
Wikipedia?
Cationic polymerization is a type of chain growth polymerization in which a cationic initiator transfers charge to a monomer which then becomes reactive. This reactive monomer goes on to react similarly with other monomers to form a polymer.
Beyond confused, I went to the source.
Proof positive that even the company who produces it has no clue what the heck it is.
Well, you can string a bunch of science terms together and stamp sucker on my forehead, but that’s okay.
It’s the price we girls pay for looking good.
And we always look awesome……………………*high 5’s*

I suppose that’s the opposite side of the spectrum. But just think of all the money you’re saving… and hey, the ozone layer thanks you.

Sounds much like the non-nutritive cereal varnish espoused by Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation.
Only you is putting it ON your head instead of eating it!

Cereal varnish. Hmmm…. an acceptable substitute I’m sure.

I FINALLY visited your blog. I’m late to everything! Anyhoozles, Cationic Hydration Interlink is a fancy way of saying: two atoms exchanged an electron. Both become ions. The one that lost an electron is negatively charged. The other is positively charged (or a positively charged cation) that binds to other substances more easily. This product uses the positively charged cations with a hydrating substance to help keep your hair hydrated. Sorry. *slinks away nerdily*

No slinking necessary… color me impressed! You are now my go to reference point for obscure styling product definitions. (I have a closet full, clear your calendar)

Go bald!!! A lot of women look great that way!
Us guys used a heck of a lot of hairspray in the 70s until you women took it all!!!
Ah for the days of vaseline–before your time!!!

Bald? Let me think on that…

Haha! Cations have something to do with ionic bonds. That’s all I remember about that good Scrabble word!
I, too, am a big fan of CHI — I use the silk infusion and the thermal spray. Come to think of it, the thermal spray has some clever scientific sorta name, too. Somethin about iron. Somethin punny. I may or may not get back to you on that.
My most recent hair product is in a bottle that looks like the sky, smells like shea butter and bamboo and I swear it puts more texture on the toilet behind me than it does in my hair.
