So, yeah. Apparently this is a thing.

I went out to lunch in South Portland a month or so ago and drove by this:

Yes.

You read that correctly.

There’s a place where you can be socially active by throwing an axe.

Though I’m guessing not at each other…. because that would dramatically cut down on the social part.

Think I’m kidding?

I’m not.

There’s even a league.

Which leads me to wonder if there’s another league for suburban axe throwing.

If so, I know a few soccer moms who would excel.

Also unbeknownst to me, there are a slew of videos that can teach you the finer points of the sport.

So if you’re looking for a new hobby?

Remember…. you saw it here first.

      1. I mean, I don’t have any pictures so it’s my word against… (uhh) my word.
And without proper imagery – a sad blog post it would be.

  1. There’s even an international axe throwing competition, with men and women from all over the world. It’s been held here in Nova Scotia at least once! Only a matter of time before it hits the Olympics, so’s to speak.

  2. While I see signs for Turkey Shoots around here, so far I’ve not seen any signs for Axe Throwing. HOWEVER, I think putting those two events together into one extravaganza would be great.

  3. It’s been here a while now. I have a friend that goes a lot. We were going to do a party there but I decided not to go. They had fun and no one lost an appendage………so far.
