.
Now, now… don’t get excited. I live in Maine, I’m talking lobster.
.
.
There was a state wide contest and even our local pub co owner joined in.
.
.
Ooh… a blue!
.
.
If you’ve never done it, or even thought about it? Trust me, lobstering is hard work.
.
.
You battle the weather, the equipment and the ocean. Fisherman die or are lost at sea every year. I’ve personally known two.
.
.
And yes..
.
.
Lobsters really are this small in the beginning.
.
.
Cuddly? Not so much.
But damn, they sure are tasty.
.
Being from Iowa, where the most intense creatures in the water are a catfish or a snapping turtle, those are terrifying!

We have snappers, but no catfish.

Of the things I miss most after I got religion, lobstah and ham top the list. Once up in your part of the country, I had lobster bisque … I think I could kill for another bowl …

Thank God lobster Mac and cheese hadn’t been invented before I became allergic. At least I don’t know what I’m missing there.

I don’t eat seafood and when I see big lobsters I always wish they had an opp to live and get even larger. But I’ve got no qualms about it… can’t when I’m back to eating animals with no quality of life!

I adore seafood and ate lobster all my life… until I came up allergic 6 years ago.

That suuucks!
I tried a bit of lobster at a big asian wedding. Had no thoughts about the taste, only the tingling in my mouth which made me think I’m probably allergic.
I figure that at 58, there’s no benefit to finding out I like it… just a lot of money to be spent.

My allergy is strange, I don’t have anaphylactic symptoms. I just become violently ill an hour or so after eating it now.

I have a lot of food intolerances, with different levels of reactions. I initially thought I ate too many too close together but now I think it was a bug or ecoli or who knows what.
When my allergies first started, I’d break out, head to toe, in massive hives. Through a fluke of events, I learned that I’l severely allergic to aspririn.. each exposure got worse. The last time, I felt my throat trying to close but I took a double dose of benadryl before it figure out how to do it.

That’s a frightening reaction. Mine is merely disgusting…

I always said my hives, which almost always started on my face, made me look like a wicked witch!!
I’ve had GI issues for well over 30yrs and don’t even notice them anymore. When I did my first colonoscopy prep, it was literally no different than amy other day – and the exact reason I was getting the exam. They didn’t find an answer. But they also didn’t find cancer so… yay.

How do they even grow that big?! I don’t think I’ve seen or eaten one that size!

No, and you wouldn’t want to eat those. Old and tough when they get that big, fisherman throw them back and let them live out their days in peace. After a selfie or two of course.

Oh. That’s anticlimactic. Here I thought you could eat them and got excited.

Oh, you could eat them. But it’s the smaller, younger ones who are sweeter.

Supermarkets were selling small ones here for $20 AUD last Christmas ‘cos fisheries weren’t able to export them internationally and those lobsters sold out like hotcakes. I wish I lived in Maine for your lobsters!

I still remember the meal I had in high school wherein I got my first taste of lobster. I’ve been in love ever since…
