.
Roof section stripped, ice and water shield in place, drip edge nailed down.
.

.
The problem corner was recognized and discussed.
.

.
I checked periodically and enjoyed the view from up high.
.

.
You’d think all the hammering and noise would scare off the wildlife…
.

.
But it didn’t stop Chuck from having a little nosh.
.

.
No, the husband wasn’t asleep… but they’d been on the roof since 8:00am and apparently he can strategize just as well lying down.
I repeatedly asked what he was going to do with the bad corner…. and I was repeatedly ignored. Please refer to the complicated diagram below to understand how and where the water was getting in.
.

.
They finished for the day at 7:00pm and the tarp was redeployed. But when I went back out and found the section over the door (you know.. where it was leaking!) hadn’t been covered, I suggested something might need to be done due to the forecast of imminent rain. But once again, I was ignored. Because really, what do I know?
.
HATE it when men think we are stupid.
Be sure to get even ok? Like make HIM take care of the buckets when it leaks in the living room again.

Yes, what do we know? I’ve already spoken in a previous comment of how my late husband used to acknowledge that he should’ve listened to me (multiple times) and how he continued to ignore my counsel, despite the acknowledgement. But I didn’t share with you how sometimes he would say “Yes, YOU did tell me this would happen…but YOU didn’t say it in a way that I could understand.” Oh, so you heard me, ignored me, and SOMEHOW IT’S BECOME MY FAULT???? We women just can’t win…

Mine never, ever acknowledges that I was right. But when I don’t say anything and something goes wrong? He’ll get aggravated and ask why I didn’t tell him.

It’s amazing that we don’t murder them in their beds.

How would that work?
“ Oh, don’t bother fixing the leak honey… I’m starting to like the abstract stain patterns on the ceiling. “

So the hubs is ignoring your pleas for the leak that’s being caused by rim joist damage? I use to date a contractor so I know about the “corner/tapered roof leak. And if you roof isn’t fixed where it’s leaking its going to leak again. But then you know this, the question is, does your hubs? lol

You would think so, after all this time.

Well, I may get tossed out of the men’s lodge for saying this, but the ‘valley’ should have been re-flashed as well …

Yeah… I know next to nothing and thought the same!

The valley was never flashed, and yes. It should be.

It appears that the wood is rotted where the red arrows point, and the ice and water shield isn’t going to protect it from further damage. Looks like a half-ass job to me, but then what do I know — I’m not a former marine! 😉

Are you new here? Half assed jobs are my husband’s specialty.

This sounds like one of those cases where you almost want it to leak again just to prove that you do know what you’re talking about!

It occurred to me that many moons ago you requested a look at our new construction once I posted about it. Just put out the post this morning: https://thetravelarchitect.wordpress.com/2021/06/05/home-construction-yes-during-a-pandemic-no/
