This week it’s candy cane dianthus. In previous years the woodchucks stripped this plant bare so I’m glad to see it blooming again.
.

.
I’m not sure what this next perennial is, but it always puts on a nice show.
.

.
Maine winters and harsh and I never know what will survive from year to year.. except the Shasta daisies. Those suckers dwarf everything else.
.

.
More Japanese iris are popping. They’re wonderful spreaders if you let them.
.

.
This is another weirdo bush I don’t know the name of.
.

.
It’s not the prettiest shape but is always bursting with azalea like blossoms.
.

.
Shame they never open fully.
.

.
The silver mound is mounding nicely and the astilbe is almost ready to flower.
.

.
Lord Dudley Mountcatten? He’s always in full bloom.
😉

That weirdo bush might be a weigela? I planted one on a previous property and your pics remind me of it. Anyways, the weirdo bush and the others are gorgeous!

I was going to suggest the same thing. Same story on another property we had one.

I’m wondering how large it will get. It’s already doubled in size.

I’ve no idea, I just remember one in the yard of a house we lived in for a few years.

You may be right. The name sounds familiar.

All of your foliage is impressive, including the feline kind, lol.

At least I don’t have to prune and weed him.

But you do have to feed him, and clean his cat boxes.

Lord Dudley make appearances in my posts from time to time. He’s a shelter rescue we adopted last year.

And if you let the Lord off the leash he could have a few snacks!

I am not a flower person.I love looking at them, but there are not many I can name. The only resson I can recognize a cwrnwtion is because they are Gail’s favourite flower. Lilies, especially tiger lilies, and lilacs I know. Beyond that not much. Gail is much better than I. She thinks the pink flowers (second pic) is a variety of phlox, but cannot say which kind. Hope that helps. I take no responsibility for accuracy.

Ooh, I hope it is. They spread quite well.

We’ve got some of that Japanese iris in our backyard, too. It’s gorgeous in contrast to the green when it blooms.

I love the striking color, but also the fact that it’s smaller and more manageable.
