.
I’ve only seen three baby chucks this year which is unusual as momma tends to have four or five. But one of them is brave and has been scampering off on his own.

Right up on our deck.

After a rain shower.

.
He was a bit damp and bedraggled.

.
And stopped for a quick drink.

Before heading back home.

They’re so cute when they’re young and uncoordinated.

They’re like puppies when they’re young. Full of energy but no coordination.

They are so adorable.
I haven’t seen any babies with our resident. Beginning to think it’s a male.

Could be. They’re solitary…

I’m not sure if being brave is gonna help that fella grow up!

Awwwwww!!!
I love seeing the baby skunks struggling up my porch steps, then shoving each other around.

We’ve only had baby skunks once or twice. They’re beyond adorable!

I should look up info about their pregnancies & child care. My “resident” skunk suddenly appeared with a kid that was too big to be new… so where had she been hiding it?

We often only see young animals after they’ve grown enough for momma to feel safe leading them away from the den.

Since momma lived here, and my property is teeeeeny, I’m wondering where the den was.

Our skunks denned in a massive brush pile my husband has down in the woods. Our woodchucks dig dens under the barn, woodshed and garage. Not sure where the raccoons lay their heads.

You know, if you scare and chase him off now, he’s more likely to stay away from the deck. And any seat cushions.
Just sayin’..

This is our back deck, that was our barn porch. No cushions here…

What does the cat think?

He watches them from the bottom of the glass door. Sometimes the babies come up and go nose to nose. Drives him crazy!
