.
We’ve had a beautiful bird of prey hunting around our property lately and I’m damned if I can identify him.
He’s a good size, pale feathered with black wing tips, and has been hard as hell to photograph because he flies very quickly.
I thought it might be an Osprey but there’s not enough brown.
I thought it was a juvenile red tail hawk, but it’s still too light in color.
These are the best shots I’ve managed so far, taken across the road on our neighbors farm.
.

.
He skims the ground quite low.
.

.
I’m sure it’s good mousing over there.
.

.
Anyone have an idea who he is?
.
Not being an observer of birds of prey, I can’t help identifying him/her. But, I do know they are fond of squirrel lol.

We just had a dove who is a regular visitor at our water fountain. You have to be fast to catch bird pics.

A wild guess would be a goshawk .. but if you ever catch it sitting, it should be easy to identify ..

I thought of a goshawk as well, but the underside of this guys wings are pale not dark. And I can scarcely focus on it in flight. Never have seen it sit.

There are several types of Ospreyhs. Could it be one of these three”

I thought so, but the wing color is wrong.

Can’t help you. But we had a visitor a few years ago we could not identify either. Sent a picture to the wildlife division of some iniversity in the west who swore they knew all the birds in North America. They could not identify him either.
We went so far as to check a luit of Asian birds, as “Chicken” appwared shortly after a huge windstorm, but could not find him there either. Decided in the end he was a mutant. He hung around for a week, then just disappeared.

How odd. I hope you got good pictures..

Fuzzy. He was always on the move, whether flying or on the ground. He ate like he wss starving but he was nervous as hell. And he was a big bird, which is why we called him Chicken.

Reminds me of the Seahawks mascot, which would mean osprey. But you’ve ruled that out, so….?

Is it a Norwegian Blue?

Don’t think we have those here. I’m going with Northern Harrier.

I can identify approximately 4 birds, and unfortunately, that’s not one of them.
