An Apple a day keeps the westerns away…

.

Though I’m not a big tv person, I do love a good original series and am currently watching a slew of them on HBO, Starz and Showtime at night.

But when my husband is knee deep in old westerns and my eyes are starting to cross from reading too much during the day… I pull out my screen magnifier and stream Apple TV on my phone. ( because our internet service is too slow to stream from the tv without that annoying buffering )

I’m thrilled that Ted Lasso is back!

.

.

But oy! Completely heartbroken this will be the final season.

I’ve seen The Morning Show (loved it) and The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey ( liked it) , and just started Shrinking (which is touching and a hoot at the same time).

.

.

So if there any Apple TV people out there, what other shows do you recommend?

Should I try Severance ?

I’ve heard good things.

      1. And you can on the Starz western channel because my husband does. That and Rio Bravo, The Sons of Katie Elder, and The Commancheros.
        Sigh.

  1. I really like Shrinking, my husband not so much – I think they are still dropping just one episode a week (?) so if you just started watching you can binge a bunch of episodes. I’ve only watched one other show on Apple tv and I can’t remember the name it was about a woman who does true crime podcasts – I liked it but I guess not so much that I remember the name LOL We have so much crap to watch especially since we now have Paramount+ and Peacock, having gotten rid of Youtube TV for live tv which replaced Hulu Live. I can’t justify the prices just so my husband can watch 20 minutes of David Muir and The Price is Right and Let’s Make a Deal. Apple TV has “The Boy, the mole, the fox and the horse” which won this years academy award for animated short. It’s just 35 minutes and it is lovely. (And I am not a fan of animated movies.)

    1. I have 3 streaming services, Apple, Amazon and Paramount, and always want to get my moneys worth. We also have HBO, Starz and Showtime on Direct TV which is ridiculously expensive.

      1. We have so many streaming services it’s ridiculous – none are all that expensive, Hulu and Netflix are the most expensive at $14.99 and $15.99, Britbox and Acorn are like $50 a year each, PBS is an annual fee starting at $60 (more if you are generous and it is tax deductible), Apple is free via my mobile carrier, Peacock is $5, Paramount is $9.99 and then Prime Video with my Prime subscription – Whew! Plus we use a Roku box so we have the Roku Channel – if you like commercials – but there is no fee. We only have cable for internet. I think that’s everything LOL

      1. I can prob get it on one of my computers. They have a lot of good shows!

I need to get Starz off my Hulu subscription but the process is eluding me. I think I’m using the wrong login.

  2. I started Severance and liked it for a while, but eventually I couldn’t take it anymore. Plot-wise it seemed to be going nowhere and visually it is so bleak. The office where he works (and where much of it is filmed) makes a gray, Soviet-style apartment block look warm and inviting.

I’ve been enjoying Alaska Daily. And I’m on pins and needles waiting for the next (and probably last) season of What We Do In The Shadows to come out.

    1. I’ve never heard of either of those, though I’m really looking for Apple TV recommendations. I may start Severance, I’ve heard good things. If it’s too bleak I can always dump it.
      😉

      1. Oh, right, I forgot. 🙂 Alaska Daily is on ABC (I think), but What We Do In The Shadows is on Hulu (I think). With all the channels and streaming services these days, I literally have to write down shows and where to find them!

  3. You have entirely different streaming services than we do. I’m not much for TV but I’d like to see these Apple TV shows. Maybe they’ll come to Netflix or Hulu eventually, but probably not Acorn.

  4. What are you watching on Starz? I bought 6 months to watch the next season of Outlander and I’m done with as far as I can go on that one. Need a new series worth watching to justify the money. LOL

  5. I’ve watched all that you’ve seen. I loved Severance; so weird but good!
Other favorites: Dear Edward & Bad Sisters.
We just started watching The Big Door Prize and it seems pretty good too.
