Woke up this morning to this….

On further inspection it looks like the raccoon has been washing up again.

Though it could be a Pterodactyl, you never know.

Put hot sauce in the water for a few days. The racoon will find some place else to do his washing. And the birds do not care.

The racoon here was leaving greasy grimy something guts in the birdbath. The hot sauce sent him elsewhere to do his cleaning.

No guts here thankfully…

This is why all of our birdbaths are on the ground 😦

I do put one on the ground in the real heat of the summer. But we live so near the river water isn’t hard to find.

Wow! I just put a birdbath in my garden. So far no midnight marauders have dismantled it, but good to be warned of this.

And this one is seriously heavy.
I still haven’t ruled out Pterodactyl…

I half expected you to find a raccoon trapped beneath the bird bath. Would’ve served the little bandit right!

That would have been imminently more blog worthy… but, no.

We stopped using our birdbath after a local cat found a way to sit on the edge without spilling it. He would sit perfectly still for hours, and eventually some bird with bad eyesight would fly close. After a couple times of finding feathers we removed the bath.
But as fat as what birds could do that, I would blame it on pteradactyc ptarmigans. I wrote a poem about them once.

We found the bath tipped over a number of times, then it stopped. Then we fou d the feathers. Then we saw tne cat sitting like a statue. We took the bath down!
Talented? I guess. Smart! Smarter than the sverage bird!
