When it’s a beautiful summer day in Maine, you grab your husband and head west.
.

.
Not quite to the mountains, but we could see them from our windows .
.

.
Destination? A highly recommended Italian restaurant in an old converted shoe factory.
.

.
It was a rustic place, full of exposed beams and brick.
.

.
No, I didn’t order that.
.

.
I went with a fruity white Sangria instead.
.

.
Cheesy garlic bread appetizer with homemade sauce started us off.
.

.
It was too windy to sit outside but we did watch the umbrellas tip over a few times.
.

.
Our meals were amazing. Decadently rich grilled chicken Alfredo for the hubs, Burgundy marinated filet tips on vegetable risotto for me.
We were stuffed and since the portions were hardy, went home with ample leftovers… but that didn’t stop us from ordering dessert to go.
.

.
Yours truly is not leaving an Italian restaurant without Tiramisu.
.

.
Calzolaio Pasta Co, is going on the list of River approved dining spots.
How could it not? On the way there….
.

.
Cows!
.
That looked delicious! So did the cows give the restaurant a thumbs up, too? Mona

I doubt the cows approved of my beef tips…

Oh, so getting to the restaurant was SCENIC! Hence, the cows! I was confused because I wouldn’t think the cows would approve of the beef tips either! 😉

Yes, we saw them on the drive. No cows at the restaurant… which now that you mention it is disappointing.

Yeah. We have that too.
I’m not sleeping in a stall. Call me when there’s one in the spare bedroom.

I loooove tiramisu!
“Kumanawanalaya” is an old “speaking Hawaiian” joke around here. What about there?
White sangia? Whooo… I had ONE before learning it was tequila. Tequila and I don’t get along. I frequently tell people, “If you wanna know if I’m drunk, offer me a tequila shot. If I say yes, put me in a cab!”

Tiramisu is exquisite. It’s like a dessert casserole.

And easy eating… virtually no chewing required. I like a dessert that doesn’t tire me out.

I love restaurant patios that overlook rivers. There’s a great one in Salida, Colorado, and your picture reminds me of it. Helps when the food is awesome, too.
BTW: wind. It ruins everything.

The food does look amazing!! I thought you had some sort of cocktail with chunks of radish in it…please tell me that wasn’t radish sangria. 😜
It looks like a place I would want to frequent; how far is the drive for you guys? We typically don’t go more than 30 minutes for a meal and some days we don’t want to go 15 minutes.

We’ve been known to drive 3 hours for a good meal so this hour was nothing. And no radish… it had apple, mango and melon.

One hour with a nice drive, with great views of cows is not terrible!

It was scenic rolling hills all the way.
And of course, cows.
Damn near perfect.
