Sometimes you just have to eat lunch at a diner and in our neck of the woods the A1 is a good choice.

Walking into the original 1946 Worcester car #790 is like stepping back in time.

.
In amazing shape for it’s age, the wood is polished..
.

.
And the chrome is shining.
.

.
Even the pass through hole to the kitchen is sparkling.
.

.
For a diner, the menu is wide and varied.
.

.
And my massive turkey club on homemade toast with hand cut fries did not disappoint.

Guy Fieri featured this place on his show Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and it even made it into a cartoon.

If you’re ever in Gardiner, Maine stop by. I promise you won’t leave hungry…

Looks amazing 🤩.
Back in 1946 everything was made with quality materials, by qualified artisans and made to last. We’ve come a long way but have lost so much.

Everything is built for speed these days, not for comfort. Get’em in, get’en out. Turnover increases profits!

Very true.
Everything built today is basically disposable and made to be replaced.

It’s awful stuff.
Blame Canada, it’s their dish.

It’s not actually a dish, is it. It’s unassociated bits of other plates scraped onto a bowl before chucking em out.

A good diner is a thing of beauty. And sadly they’re few and far between these days…

That looks kind of cool. But, if the bathroom is in the back, it’s way to much like the Trailer I live in. Lol

You actually had to go outside and walk along a little boardwalk for the bathroom.

I have never seen one of these before! It’s wonderful. They could put a base on this and make it float (we’ve had so many floods, I’m wondering how to create a floating home).

Cupcake and I love diners. We have a few favorites here: Three Coins, Joes New York, Trips, Hwy 301….all serve com fort food without any frills.

I grew up in New Jersey where diners rule. They’re fewer and farther between here…

The only thing that would make the diner any better would be personal jukeboxes on the tables.
Were there personal jukeboxes on the tables?

There were not.
