.
The new deck has been finished and the final few boards have been put into place.
.

.
We are pleased.
.

.
And since our contractor finished this project late Saturday afternoon, we invited him out to the man cave / Barn Mahal for some liquid refreshment.
.

.
I tried #3 of the 4 from the Wisconsin batch our neighbor gifted me when I cat sat. It was a cherry pomegranate sour from a brewery called 3 Sheeps. A nice combination of subtle pucker and fruit. Plus… it was pink. Who doesn’t love that in a beer?
After the first beer, the pool playing commenced.
.

.
And as they played, I drank…
.

.
Though my second round was a truly revolting way to end the Wisconsin craft brewery tour. A limp, bland completely uninteresting sour made with unripened grapes from a company called Bevy. If you live in Wisconsin, don’t bother with this one.
.

.
No new visitor to the man cave escapes without playing Name That Tool, so even though it was 9:00pm and he was ready to leave… the game began.
.

.
Our contractor did well, guessing four out of six. To date no one has named them all.
😉

Oh that deck looks super fab!! Especially since it’s raining and I’d love to sit out there staring at the wonderful back yard! I’m more than sure the deck guy was happy to engage in the beer drinking and game playing with the hubs, lol. Sorry about the disappointing beer, that truly sucks because beer should be anything but.

It’s always fun to try new breweries, there’s bound to be a dud now and then… and 3 out of 4 isn’t bad.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
If you encounter Olallie ale, which I thought was olallieberry but is actually blackberry & rosehip & and gluten-free, give it a pass! It yltasted like a weakly flavored (no particular flavor) seltzer.

I’m not a seltzer fan so I’d definitely pass there. Thanks for the heads up.

I had such high hopes – I still remember olallieberry wine my parents let me taste in the early 80s!

How awesome! The deck is amazing. What a great way to celebrate. I know family members who’d have a heyday with your hubby! Especially the games. Looks like you got to enjoy it, too. Yay for finished projects (and no “peeling out” marks left on the deck lol).

All celebrations at Casa River take place in the man cave/Barn Mahal now. That’s where the alcohol lives….

Name that tool! Ha! I bet I’ve found a few in our garage that your husband will not be able to guess!

I will not be passing that nugget of information along. Unless you want him on your doorstep bright and early that is…

I’ll take a few pics and post them. Some came with the house which was built in 1952.

Don’t you play Pool? You could have played the Winner.

I do, a little and very badly.

Really? He put the narrowest board 2nd out from the wall? Where it is visible for all to see? It should have been hidden, and basically invisible, right up sgsinst the wall where no one would have questioned its size.
But I guess as long as you are happy nothing else matters…
Are you really happy?

He couldn’t do that… there’s a picture frame border that’s laid first. And it’s really not that noticeable, except from the angle I took the picture. Since the underlying framework was already in place and the composite boards are affixed with clips there’s no wiggle room when it comes to spacing. It’s no biggie, we’re still pleased.

Thanks. But I’m afraid all we did was pay the contractor.
Still worth celebrating though…
