.
Because it wouldn’t be a fair without some chickens.
.

.
There were quite a few prize winning divas strutting their stuff.
.

.
But this all black rooster took the prize for bizarre.
.

.
The next blue ribbon winner?
.

.
Must have won for bad hair day.
.

.
How do these Polish even see?
.

.
There were fancy pigeons, but to be honest these made me sad.
.

.
They’ve clearly been bred for over exaggerated foot feathers and the poor things could hardly walk.
.

.
But the peacocks were lovely.
.

.
And this duck who decided no one could drink because he wanted a bath was funny.
.

.
We ended with a very curious goose who followed me all around the enclosure. I believe he was for sale and wanted to come home with us… but alas, my husband refused.
.
That “curious goose” probably would’ve come home with you if you had told hubby the goose is old enough to be an antique.

Damn. Why didn’t I think of that…?

LOL… As a kid, I asked my mom how old something had to be in order to be called antique. She said 40. I promptly asked my grandmother if she was an antique. To her credits, she said yes!

Our local fair didn’t have chickens this year, “per recommendation by CT Dept Ag.” What the fluff is what I said. Thanks for sharing yours.

Bird flu? Doesn’t seem to be an issue here…

Those are some pretty pedigreed chickens, unique and beautiful for sure. But I’m not a big fan of them because they’re mean and attack you when you least expect it. Next time the hubs wants to take home an antique piece of……something. Tell him yes with the condition you go back for the goose, lol.

To be fair, his refusal to let me adopt every critter I see stems from the knowledge that he’s the one who would have to go out and feed it when there’s a blizzard raging. 😉

Are you allowed to have pets like that? I wish we could. Sometimes I wish I lived on a Farm.

I live in the country. As long as it’s legal I can have anything I want…

The polish chicken reminds me of Phyllis Diller.
The bad hair day chicken looks like cat fur on my carpet!!

Omg… you’re right.
Now I totally want a Polish chicken so I can name her Phyllis.

The only way I’d bring a goose home would be frozen from the grocery store. I would’ve said a “Top Gun” DVD from Netflix, but I don’t have that option any longer, do I?

Why are you goose averse?

Those fluffy footed pigeons make me sad, too. I had no idea there was such a thing. Have you guys ever kept backyard chickens at Casa River?

No one has just one chicken…
