After the recent mass shooting tragedy in Maine lots of people were paying tribute to the resilience of my state and its people. I happen to like Stephen Colbert’s take…

And since it’s November in my northern home, temperatures are dropping rapidly at night. They had snow to the west of us and we’re waking up to frost. I say bring it! But my husband is starting to shiver. Since menopause has endowed me with internal heating I’m slow to crank up the furnace these days and see nothing wrong with throwing another blanket on top of the spouse. … which is why I got a kick out of seeing this online the other day.

I really need to post that on our thermostat.

If you’ve never listened to the Grateful Dead? Never mind, you won’t get it.
.

.
And if you’ve never watched Game of Thrones or The Last of Us? Never mind you won’t get this either.
But speaking of the latter?
It’s real.

Thankfully it hasn’t moved on to humans, but you never know.
Which is why I was a little shocked to see it was the top ingredient in a coffee that’s being hawked on FB.

What the Hell people?
😳

Thanks for the chuckles.

Well I never thought of Mainers like that until Stephen Colbert put it that way. And I have tasted Moxie and I agree with him on this, how can y’all drink that stuff? I mean Dr. Pepper kind of tastes like that but, no to Moxie. And your state flower is a pine cone? Didn’t know that either, but I think Mainers a their own kind of crazy, and resilient for sure 😉
I understood the Grateful Dead reference and the GOT and TLOU as well. What the hell is going on with people putting that “fungus” in coffee. That’s how the fungus will infect people, but drinking that freaking coffee! Ugh, I fear for the human race all the time now!!!

I like Moxie, but I think it’s required if you’re a resident.
Yup. Pine cone. We’re weird, what can I say?
Zombie coffee. Makes me glad I don’t drink it.

For the Jukebox one, I started singing “Don’t put another dime in the jukebox, I don’t wanna hear that song no more.”. Sorry, gotta look up who sings it.

Do you drink Moxie? There is a Mt. Moxie in Maine on the Appalachian Trail and it is tradition to drink one at the summit. Guess I’ll have to pack one out when I get there.

I do. I’ve always liked it. My husband on the other hand, hates it and thinks it tastes like tar.

Well, I shall do a review. If all goes according to plan, you’ll have to wait until around August of 2025 to read it.
