Quality control… where are you?

.

I bought a bottle of Pantene shampoo a while back. And after only a week in the shower… I reached down, pumped and got nothing but air.

.

.

Seeing that my husband has very little hair left, I thought it odd the bottle had emptied so quickly.

Which is when I unscrewed the top.

.

.

Really?

Mystery solved why no shampoo was forthcoming, but come on.

A little quality control goes a long way.

🥴

  1. While it’s certainly possible that it was manufactured without a straw (Seen plenty of products come in missing parts, or cases missing entire items), if that straw is removable as I’d assume it is, it could have also happened at store level via customer/employee carelessness (customer opens the bottle to sniff, walks away without putting it back together, employee puts cap back on without the straw) or even sabotage. My job has made me very wary of caveat emptor…

  2. We recently bought a Slow Cooker. When we opened the box, the handle on the lid was broken. The store had no spare parts, and I could not find another handle to replace it. So I phoned the company (well-known in Canada) and told them what happened. “No problem, sir! Give me your address, we will send a new one.” Ten days later a big box is delivered to our door, it is from the company. So I said to my partner, “Sure is a big box for a little handle.” Then I pick it up. It must weigh 10 lbs. So we open the box to find a whole new Slow Cooker. So I got on the phone and called them back. “All we needed was a new handle for the lid. Why did you send us a whole new unit?” She asked if there was anything wrong with the new unit; I assured her there was nothing wrong.
Her next answer. “It’s cheaper. To make the various parts, store them, and send them out only when needed would end up costing us more than replacing the item. Enjoy your new Slow Cooker. Have a nice day!”
So now, as long as we don’t break the handle, we have a new Slow Cooker for when this one breaks. We actually tried to give the first one away free on Facebook, saying the only thing wrong was the lid needed a new handle. No one wanted it!
