.
Yes, it’s a new year.
And yes, we’re still doing this…
.

.
I must have been 3 1/2 because I was born in December and started nursery school early.
I remember all the children had to bring in something to sleep on for nap time. And while the other kids were given a pillow or blanket from home…my mother, being the uber mom she was…. went to FAO Schwartz and purchased a fantastically plush Humpty Dumpty egg shaped rug. It was perfect and I loved it.
I have vague memories of the other children being jealous and trying to take it from me on repeated occasions. Being a shy child, they often succeeded which resulted in my tear stained face and the teacher asking my mother to give me something less grand and envy provoking.
Which now that I think about it was a pretty lousy lesson. How about teaching my thieving little classmates to respect other people’s property instead.
🤣
Now you….
What’s your earliest memory?
.
What an awesome moment to remember. And traumatic for a tiny child! 😀

I could see where that memory stands out! I’m a twin~my earliest recollection is us lying together taking in our own “language”. 👯♀️

It is! I NEED to write about it–we are a mystery. LOL 😂❤️❤️❤️ and interestingly, here I am with Stage 4 cancer and my sister is fine (according to her scans). There’s a twin study on Netflix about diet and such. I’m enrolled in 6 studies now at the National Cancer Institute. 1 in 100,000 of us have my mutations/cancer. I’m told at least once a week I’m rare, lol. ❤️

I was about three, I walked across the street from our house to the baseball field because there was a carnival setting up the amusement rides, which I called “Lookits.” This because every time amusement rides were anywhere within my eye sight my dad would say “Look at the Rides.” Which was shortened to Lookits because I was only three. The thing is that I was standing there watching in total amazement all the lights being turned on and my dad running up to me and picking me up because I walked a block by myself to the baseball park because I wanted to see the Lookits.

Well, that’s a lousy first memory. The first thing that comes to mind when asked was dressing up for Halloween (I don’t recall as what…!) and being driven to trick or treat my Aunt, who lived a couple of miles away. I always smile when I think about that. Halloween was a big deal for me then…and now. 🎃

That’s a nice memory. Halloween was amazing when I was a child…

That’s a sad first memory but as a fellow only I understand it intuitively. My first memory is my uncle reading a book of nursery rhymes to me as we sat on the stairs. I was shy and wouldn’t come downstairs to the living room for the story so he brought it to me.

That’s such a sweet first memory.

One of my first memories is of a little girl stealing my cutout dolls and then saying “Finders Keepers, losers weepers.” Sad that our earliest memories are often of cruelty.

I usually say my earliest memory is sipping coffee from everyone’s cups after they left the teeny bit with grounds and had gone to another room.
Could also be wearing a matching shirt with my dad (circuit board print).
Your post reminded me of having a meltdown at daycare during a church service, probably Easter. My fam weren’t church goers, so I don’t know why we were there.

It might be sticking my fingets in my 1st birthday cake, and my 6 yr old brother crying about me ruining “my” cake. I have a photo of that incident

I was in Elementary school and we were painting or coloring pictures and another student looked at mine as I was using Black and said, “Why are you using Black? That’s supposed to be a River.”. So, I titled my picture, ‘The Black River ‘. I still have it, somewhere.

New Year’s Eve 1973, a house party my parents took us to. That would have made me…hey, what do you know? 3 1/2 years old, just like you.

You were ringing in the New Year at 3 1/2?
Props.

I agree, the only person getting a life lesson was YOU and it wasn’t fair at all. Your mom was over the top and I love that!
I recall my father looking over at me while I was in my crib, changing my diaper. It seems unbelievable, but it’s there, way back in my little brain.

Not sure how old but I was in a high chair and there was a rush and chaos (added to by me crying and wailing because of fear) when my brother had collapse or something due to meningitis.
