.
When last I left the bedroom picture window saga, the old had been removed and the new was on its way.
.

.
Carefully, across the ice covered snow.
.

.
This baby was heavy, and awkward to lift as there’s really no place to grab.
.
.
You knew it wouldn’t be easy, right?
.

.
Did I mention it was about 12 degrees that day?
Good times.
.
.
Hallelujah, it was in.
.

.
Secured, insulated and awaiting new trim and sills.
.

.
And speaking of insulation..
.

.
Sometimes the spray foam has a mind of its own.
.

.
A rather disturbing mind as it turns out.
.

.
Or maybe that’s just me.
😉
.
That was nerve wracking to watch. Definitely not a one-man job. I wish I could have sent you the window/door people I had in Philly. The windows and doors and alley gate all had to be custom made and they were brilliant. The insulation ooze kinda made me laugh – it’s cute!

Cute wasn’t the first word that came to mind, but okay..

I bet you are so glad the worst is now done and windows in. Once the last bit is done, I bet you notice the difference in warmth with your new window.

We replaced all 5 in the bedroom, so I hope to see a difference.

I think that goo is easy to trim away after it dries! Otherwise, just pretend it’s part of the decor.

I’m not staring at that every day!

Glad to hear that window finally got installed! Whew, and in 12 degree weather no less, your contractor is good guy 😉

I’m glad your windows are here and that they’re the correct size and that you got some unique photos of them to share on your blog, because after all isn’t that what really counts in the end, blog post fodder?

They’re here… but they weren’t the right size and larger holes had to be cut in the walls. But yes… of course a thousand dollars in extra expense is nothing compared to decent blog fodder.

What would the Contactor have done without your Husband’s help? Plus, are you sure Noone specifically sprayed the foam that way? I wonder.

He was going to have to hire a helper, at our expense… hence my husbands assistance.
And no, the insulation was just a happy… or not?… accident.

I cannot believe your contractor did not hire experienced help for the day. He should not have relied on your hubby for help, no matter how willing he was. Now if something goes wrong, you know who will be blamed.
(Aren’t I an optomistic guy!)

It was my husband that insisted. It’s hard enough for him to accept he can’t physically do all this work anymore and hire a contractor … he’s definitely not hiring a helper when he’s available.

You have to protect nim, or you are going to eventually lose him at nis present capacities. I know how he feels, like he is still 25 and indestructible. You need to persuade him time has moved on. His ego will agree eventually, but it takes just one small instant of instability, or a miscalculation, or a slip, and his life will become a living hell. YOU do not want that! HE does not want that. You have to talk some hard talk with him. Tell him you love him too much to lose him, that he must do tnis for you if it gets that far.
Gail’s mother is sitting in a convalescent home for seniors right now because she insisted on doing things herself. A year ago last month she was out shovelling snow, slipped on a patch of ice, went down awkwardly, broke her hip and concussed her head. She went from a self-sufficient person to an invalid with dementia ptoblems in less than a second. She is never getting out of that home. Gsil’s father spends his time every day visiting her. Most days she knows who he is and why she is there. Some days she has no idea who he is, and demands to be allowed to go home — to the farm she lived on as a child. On those days she is 13 or so years old, totally not recognizing she is in her 80s. It is a very ssd situation.
Neither you nor hubby wants that. He is NOT i destructible. WHY TAKE CHANCES?

Do you really think I haven’t had that discussion… more times than I can count? Whenever I say anything that even alludes to him not doing something physical he gets right royally pissed, like it’s an affront to his manhood. Aging has not been an easy thing for my spouse emotionally.

That I can’t do. I don’t know any Msrines. But you do — or you can get hubby to intfoduce you to his best Marine friends. Good luck.
