.
This first picture is what I call porn for women.
.

.
A man, using a shop vac to clean.
And boy do we need cleaning.
Dust?
.

.
It’s everywhere.
And since my husband is retired again … (did I mention that? He went back to work for 6 months but decided to call it quits for good this time. Or so he says)… our contractor has put him to work with the time consuming annoying jobs.
.

.
Like pulling out all the little pieces of old carpet trapped under the frame of the brickwork.
.

.
So many little pieces.
.

.
Of that horrible dusty rose crap that’s still in our bedroom.
.

.
Its removal will be the next project we tackle after this one.
.

.
If this one is ever finished that is.
And because you know nothing goes smoothly here…
.

.
See the threshold piece wrapped in plastic on the right? See how it matches the flooring? There should have been 3 tubes of that, we got 1.
.

.
The other 2 tubes looked like this.
Not even close… which means another delay and annoyance while we wait for the store to replace it.
.

.
Furry inconvenience?
.

.
We’ve got that too as Lord Dudley Mountcatten has developed a fascination with power tools.
😉
.
I can’t stop staring at the porn. I might be drooling …

It was hot.
If he’d picked up a mop I wouldn’t have been able to control myself….

I might have to go to one of those specially stores and buy myself a shop vac for special occasions. 😎

It’s a manly vacuum they don’t mind using. Highly recommend.

My husband would use it only if it blew mess outward. 🙄

The caroet pics remind me of when Crankypants (former wp blogger) pulled up her carpet and had us guess how many nails she pulled. In my memory, the # was 241.
Unlike the rest of the world, removing the red carpet exposed gorgeous wood floors with inlaid trim… all in great condition.

We weren’t that lucky. Ripping up our carpet just exposed humped plywood.

I think we have different tastes in porn. Mine is when the husband (my husband, that is) cleans up his side of the desk. We’re having a live-in petsitter soon while we’re in Portugal, so when he asked what his cleaning chores should be, that was first on the list. I got a resounding “no way.” Sigh. At least I can count on him to do some dusting.

A live in pet sitter who cleans? You’re living the dream…

No no. By “he” I meant the husband. The petsitter (a she this time but we’ve had both) is only expected to keep the house as clean as they found it. Them’s the rules.

Of all the things I miss about my husband the fact that he LOVED to vacuum may be in the top ten. I hate to vacuum, he loved it – so house cleaning chores were an easy divide. Sometimes if he was bored, or, on rare occasions upset by something, he would vacuum. We owned many vacuum cleaners over the years – he was always agitating for a new one – some men get all excited about cars, my husband got excited about vacuum cleaners…

That’s a uniquely sweet memory…

Well the fact that he retired for a second time is surprising since he was bored with not working. But since he’s working at home he’s happy, you can see it. Or maybe it’s annoyance, I can’t tell with your hubs, lol.

It’s a fine line. 🤣
He was unhappy when he retired because he kept feeling like he left too soon. After going back to the same old bureaucratic bullshit… he realized he’d had enough.

I really don’t like seeing Lord Dudley under that, even if it’s off.

It’s off, unplugged, and he only gets up there at night … but no. I’m not thrilled with it either.

Yeah, I figured that. But it still has the sharp edges. I would ask the Contractor if he has a Tarp of some sort to cover it.

If you look closely you’ll see it has a plastic safety cover that only swings away when you lower the blade. It’s safe…

So, your husband retired, then unretired, then reretired? Why the change of heart? Do you think it’ll stick this time?

A few reasons. He felt he left too soon the first time, but going back brought the same bureaucratic BS he dealt with before. Also, the gov’t was making him retake all the same mind numbing training he took 20 years ago. He was back 6 months and they wouldn’t let him do his job. Extremely frustrating.

I can certainly understand that.

Nothing like the annoying jobs. I asked the guy who refinished our floors about doing the steps. He told me he would charge a LOT of money because it was very annoying and time consuming, plus he’d have his son do it. I bought an oscillating multi-tool (it sands, scrapes, and saws) and did it myself. He was right. It was annoying and time consuming, plus the sander made a high-pitched whine so I could only work on the steps when no one was home. Hearing protectors (essentially headphones made for a shooting range) helped.
