It’s starting to look like a floor!

Things are starting to come together on the flooring project.

And I’m almost afraid to say this lest something horrible happen….

But work is progressing smoothly.

.

.

It’s going to take us a while to get used to this type of floor as we’ve had carpet in here since we moved in, but I’m liking it so far.

.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten’s jury is still out.

.

Though he does enjoy the work table when our contractor goes out to the man cave/Barn Mahal for lunch.

  4. Is that hardwood or laminate? It is hard to tell in the pictures. We have laminate, and 5 cats. After 10 years there is not one scratch in the floor. Mind you, cats slide to a stop now — their claws cannot find purchase in whatever covers the laminate. No direction changescat high speed.

      8. That sounds like Diabola. None of the other four do that — yet. The thing is, at 17 years old she is still,as fastvas she was at 2, if not faster. She keeps herself in good shape.

      10. There’s no real word for it, but it is Portuguese-based, and stands for Devil Woman. Her full name is Daibola Blanca, so White Devil Woman. She is a Rag Doll, and the way she treats the other cats she is definitely a devil.

      11. Okay, I lied. There is a Portuguese word for devil woman, but a Poryuguese speaker told me there wasn’t, so I made one up. Diabo is devil, I added the “la” because it sounded feminine. But looking on the internet, they do give a trsnslation in the song Devil Woman by Cliff Richard. In the song it is “diabólica.” I was close.

      12. I dunno… in Spanish, ending in “ica” would usually mean “like” or “ish” in English. But I’m not familiar with the rules of Portuguese.

  5. Gorgeous! And as cozy as carpeting is, we can’t escape the fact that non-carpeted floors are much cleaner (so they tell us). My only concern is all those tools. One dropped screwdriver and – whammo – instant ding.

      I shared your concern at first, but buying an expensive brand and style seems to negate that concern. Our contractor used a scrap piece as a guide for close cutting and it survived blemish free. Proof that sometimes you do get what you pay for…
