More blooming things.

.

Lilacs.

.

.

From a scent perspective they’re hard to beat.

We have two giant bushes on the edge of our property that were planted by the original owners in the mid seventies.

One is dark purple.

.

.

One is white.

.

.

So of course my favorite color is the pale lavender that we didn’t have.

But my girlfriend did and about ten years ago she gave me some of hers.

.

.

That’s it in the foreground next to our old ones.

Alive, but not in any hurry to grow.

At this rate I’ll be dead before it blooms…

  1. I grew up with lilacs in my yard. There is nothing like them.
About 13 years aho I planted lilacs along the edge of my front yard, growing them from seed. I planted over 60 seeds, out of which I have maybe 20 trees, in various stages of growth. Anywhre from one foot tall to twelve feet tall. They bloom every year now, but my new neighbour on one side hates them. The grow into her yard! God forbid! They stink up her air!
My problem is, at least in zone 2, they bloom for maybe a week, and then they’re gone for another year. Oh, how I wish they would last longer.
