.
My husband never ceases to make me laugh.. be it intentionally or not.
And since we recently did a good bit of vehicle shopping which resulted in a purchase for me, fair is fair.
So when he came home the other day and told me to get in the car to go look at a vehicle he’d found, I couldn’t complain too loudly.
But I did laugh.
A lot.
You see… the vehicle he wanted you to buy wasn’t at a dealership.
Never was, even when new.
Which turned out to be at least 100 years ago.
.

.
Yes… the vehicle he wanted to buy was antique and horse drawn.
Of course it was.
.

.
A man in the neighboring town had 5 of them for sale and my husband was in heaven.
.

.
Personal carriages, a doctor’s buggy… even a horse drawn hearse.
But it was this one he really loved.
.

.
Part buggy, part pick up truck.
.

.
It even had a tailgate…
.

.
E. A. Coffin, Meats & Groceries, Tel. 72 M was still legible on the back of the seat so we’re guessing it was a kind of horse drawn delivery van.
.

.
My husband.
Ya gotta love him.
🤣
.
Is he going to somehow use it? Or just enjoy owning it? It is pretty cool.

He enjoys finding these things and buying them for a good price. After that, nothing.

Those are all marvelous! Did he buy it? And how would you get it home?

So now are you buying a horse – or is one of you going to pull it?

Who’d buy meat from a Coffin?

Oh and how much was the man asking for this horse drawn vehicle?

Very little actually. $350…

Isee the appeal… but only to look at, not to purchase.

OMG. I love it—what a sweet piece of history! Think of the all the money you’ll save on gas.
Sadly, I don’t see Lord Dudley being able to pull it for long. 🤣

I’m a little disappointed you didn’t go with the hearse, especially as Halloween is right around the corner, but his pick is spectacular also. To what use will he put this crazy purchase? Or will it be the mother of all lawn ornaments outside the Barn Mahal? If I ever get back to Maine, I want a ride.

The hearse was fun, but not in very good shape. Too many passengers I guess…

Death is hard on a body. And on a carriage, too, it seems.

I get his fascination. We stumbled upon one at a vintage store once and I would have bought it in a heartbeat if I had a spare $1K to spend.

They’re usually very pricey but this man buys out entire estates and found them covered up in an old barn. Score!

Hmmm, I hope there is room somewhere on your property. I think he is starting his own Antique Museum.

Don’t think he hasn’t thought about that….
