Please excuse the quality of these photographs. I was shooting through windows at night and some have annoying reflections…. but four skunks and two raccoons are too good not to share.
.

.
We have nightly visitors like this all the time but every time I try to sneak outside for pictures they run off.
.

.
They don’t mind me flipping on the deck lights…
.

.
But as soon as they hear me, they’re gone.
.

.
You’d be surprised how fast a skunk can run.
.

.
Yes.
.

.
I love our backyard…
💕
.
That must be such a thrill, watching all your visitors.
(I was all excited too when I saw the title to your post – I thought at last I’d found someone else who liked the sound of the Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band. 🙂

I’ve not heard of that particular group, but now I’m interested….

Cute! The only skunk we have ever seen in the backyard area sprayed Tucker through the fence. 🦨🥴

That’s so cool. I don’t think I’d try sneaking up on the skunk family.

The skunks are funny. They have bad eyesight and apparently bad hearing.
I sometimes get their food out late and have to talk to them as I approach. I can get quite close.

That’s awesome!! I’m telling you, you are the Marlin Perkins of Maine or should I say, River Perkins, lol.

Your skunks have so much white! I’ve found skunks run away fast, but rarely run at things… preferring foot stomps then butt threats!

We have a variety of patterned skunks. Lots of white this year.

For the most part they do. As long as I scatter the food and they all have an equal opportunity to nosh.

Great photos! I was babysitting my daughter’s pug and he got skunked close up in the face. What a nightmare!

Yikes! I guess you’re right. Skunk is better than porcupine needles.

Maybe that’s why they keep skunking the dogs? Hmmm….

Nice! We get skunks and raccoons and possums all the time. I enjoy watching all the critters except the rats.

Just think of them of squirrels without tails…

Peaceful interspecies co-existence. I love it. Humans should try to emulate this.
