Let’s play.

.

Just a quick question this week.

.

.

You either love it or hate it. There’s rarely any middle ground.

I am not a fan. My husband is.

I make it for him every once in a while, but have never added it to special holiday meals.

This year we went to a friend’s home for the traditional feast… and while she didn’t cook it, another guest brought one.

So though I wasn’t responsible, technically I have to say yay.

How about you?

Yay or nay to the controversial beans…

  1. Nay… my entire “dinner” was some potato chips.
I go back & forth on green bean casserole. I think I was in my 30s the 1st time I had it (never a part of my family’s dinners). I’ve never made it.

    1. My recipe for green bean casserole? I don’t have one other than the one on the French’s fried onions container. As I said, I’m not a big fan.

      1 can
      (101/2 oz.)
      Campbell’s®Condensed
      Cream of Mushroom Soup

      3/4 cup milk
      1/8 tsp. Ground Black Pepper
4 cups cooked cut green beans
(use fresh, frozen or canned green beans)
1 1/3 cups French’s Crispy Fried Onions, divided

      FRENCH’S® GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE
PREP TIME: 5 MIN. | COOK TIME: 35 MIN.

MIX soup, milk and pepper in a 11/2-quart baking dish. Stir in beans and 2/3 cup Crispy Fried Onions.
BAKE at 350°F for 30 minutes or until hot, Stir.
      TOP with remaining 2/3 cup
Onions. Bake 5 minutes or until
      Onions are golden brown.

  2. I have never seen a green bean casserole in real life, consequently never ate any, nor would I ever want to. Anything that involves cream soup from a can gets a pass from me and why would you do something like that to perfectly lovely green beans?

      1. Aside from my husband I’ve never had an ‘Anglo’ friends – so never was subjected to a lot of what I consider weird foods. Read about it tho, certainly seen photos…

  3. YAY! Although I make it with fresh green beans because it tastes so much better. And the boys love it so it’s been at every Thanksgiving since I’ve been divorced. The ex wasn’t a fan, but then again he came from a family that had queso and chips and Mexican rice with the turkey on Thanksgiving 🫤.

  4. It’s one of those quick and easy side dishes that doesn’t cost much to make and uses ingredients that are easy to find year around. So that folks of limited means would be able to bring something to a potluck.

  5. I actually like green bean casserole, though we’ve been making a hoity-toitier version (sans Campbells soup) for years. This year, though – our first vegetarian Thanksgiving – believe it or not, we didn’t have it. We didn’t have any beans, come to think of it. Ah well, we were stuffed as it was.

      1. English Toad in the Hole with surprisingly good faux sausages. The Husband did say that one of the things he misses is turkey leftovers… No one said there wouldn’t be sacrifices. For me it was the meatballs in marinara at the Charleston airport lounge.
