.
On a bright and sunny afternoon, we headed west.
.

.
To a small craft brewery called Ambition.
.

.
To be honest I think it was misnamed. Not only was it small, but the barkeeper was more interested in talking with his friends than introducing new customers to his beer. We muddled along on our own, ordered and picked up our own flight…
.

.
And were quite underwhelmed. The only brew that any flavor? Burned your throat too much to drink.
.

.
With this many breweries in our state… we won’t be returning to the ambitionless Ambition.
Tasting complete, we headed across the street to a favorite restaurant.
.

.
Housed in an old shoe factory with an original boiler door that fascinates my husband..
.

.
Calzolaio Pasta Co. never disappoints.
.

.
An apple cider mule with a garlic, chicken, broccoli Alfredo pizza on fresh basil dough for me.
.

.
And a fabulous ravioli special for the husband.
Sautéed shallots & local Macintosh apples finished with baby spinach in a sherry & sage cream sauce over butternut squash & pumpkin filled ravioli.
All the flavors of fall right there!
.
That restaurant sounds and looks a lovely place.
That boiler door would have interested me too, with not expecting that.

Homemade pasta, locally sourced veggies, fresh baked bread. It’s fab!

We go out for local beers a lot but we never get good food afterwards. You document yours so well that I don’t feel like I’m missing out so much. Thanks!

We usually make a day of it. Scenic drive, beer tasting, then lunch/dinner.
👍

That’s my life right there, minus the lunch/dinner out. That’s why I love these posts.

Don’t want anything to suck up the alcohol, eh?
I get it.

That boiler door is about as cool as my vet which is housed in a former bank with the vault door in one of the appointment rooms 😁

How about pineapple on pizza?
I had a friend from New York who insisted that pizza has red sauce and cheese and optionally either sausage, pepperoni, or mushrooms (not more than one of those). Anything more and it was food, but not pizza.

Pineapple goes great on pizza, as do dill pickle coins. I have no idea why people are so uptight about what goes on a pizza. If you like something, put it on a pizza. You’re only depriving yourself if you don’t!

I’m that way with pineapple.
Though I did have a Vermont apple, cheddar, bacon pie with maple drizzle that was amazing.

You have many great restaurants around you. I’d enjoy living somewhere like that.

Ha! Actually, I like to eat while I drink, just to prolong the experience I guess, so we’ll get pub food right there (I’m a sucker for Kay-so as Tracy calls it) or take-out from nearby. It really diminishes the quality of food we eat out, but the quality of the beer remains high, so there’s that. Also why I enjoy your food pics.

I like breweries that serve food as well, but the small ones usually don’t.

Oh for sure, and their beer is often the best, right? Therefore, local takeout.
