.
Another library book sale, another couple of stacks of mostly unfamiliar authors.
.

.
Two dollars each.
Life is good.
.

If you fold your thumb over your palm, does it extend beyond your hand?
.

.
I always thought being limber was a good thing but in this case it’s not. Thankfully my thumb is where it should be. But then I haven’t been what you’d call limber in years.
😉
.

.
My plant is trying to escape.
.

.
Though where it thinks it’s going is anyone’s guess.
.
What are you going to do with the plant? Train it to grow up along the corner? Or are you going to chop it off?

This plant used to climb up the corners and over the door but when we remodeled I had to cut it all back. It left a mess on the walls so I’ll probably keep snipping and keep it contained this time around…

Let it grow and call it Audrey 3.

I’ve seen the thumb test around. I wish all medical tests were so straightforward. The plant is lovely and obviously likes to grow. Now what with it?

It’s been cut back numerous times so I’ll let it go a while and then sharpen my snips.

Looks like one of those plants from a horror movie that just starts growing out of control, and when you least expect it, you suddenly find yourself in its grasp unable to escape…

Thanks for planting that seed of horror. I’m off to sharpen my scissors now…

I love book deals, and it’s joy to read an author you’ve never heard of before. At least for me, I’ve read a lot of books from authors I hadn’t heard of and really loved the book. His Lordship doesn’t dig into that plant? I’ve had to place every plant I had on the floor out reach because my cats are hoodlums, ugh.

If you read the article associated with the Thumb Test, you’ll find so many caveats that you’ll realize this is mostly clickbait meant to scare you. Notice that even in the clickbait, it notes it is NOT a diagnostic tool and it “might” provide clues.
The “normal” position in the sketches looks awfully stiff to me. Do you remember when you were four years old and learned to show your age with your fingers? Your thumb was probably across your palm. “Normal” is often considered being able to reach the base of the small finger with the thumb. Thumb movement involves three separate joints and one of them is not a simple hinge. If you’ve seen photos of HWSNBN making a fist, his thumb looks either very short or very stiff, and resembles the “ideal” in the clickbait.

Interesting. But if Trump is the ideal, I think I’ll pass.

My husband can’t do that with his thumb, but he can tip it back to touch his forearm–which his doctor says might be a sign of connective tissue disorder (which would explain all his injuries).

Yikes!
That sounds a little freaky…

Back over the top of his hand or bending it down/under? I can do down/under, to touch my arm, on both hands. That’s another sign of EDS.

Down/under.

I have extreme digestive issues and learned that they may be linked to EDS.

Hooray for library book sales! I am perplexed as to how thumb laxity could be an indication of potential heart troubles, but then, I know little about medical marvels.
Very funny about your plant. I love vines, so that’s super cute to me. Also, beautiful floor!

Thank you! It was part of our nightmare renovation but we love it.

My thumb is normal, but also, kinda sore now from that bit of exercise.
I can’t believe the Lord hasn’t torn up the escaping plant!!
Yay for cheap books!!

His Lordship is a very well behaved royal and has no interest in wandering foliage.

I think you might be able to cut that off and start a new plant.

I am at risk with an already known enlarged aorta. Another way to see if you’re at risk is to take your thumb and forefinger and circle the other wrist. If your thumb overlaps to the first knuckle, you’re at risk.

That’s the 3rd pothos that I’ve seen in as many days – but the other 2 were being carried by people walking on thie sidewalk, nowhere near nurseries, which was weird.
My thumb extends to the edge of my hand, but not beyond. I dunno what that’s supposed to mean. I already suspect that I have mild EDS, based on my flexibility.

Random strangers walking around with pothos? How odd…

The first one was sticking out of a backpack. After seeing the 2nd, I felt like I was missing a plant show. But they were in different areas of the city.

We have great library sales here at the public libraries. $2 or less in the call on the books. Excellent sales, and books! Florida have beautiful libraries, good donations for books, and lots of authors live here including Stephen King.

I filled 2 bags at each sale. Could have easily filled 12….

16 books in this haul, so about a month’s worth.

FIrst thing I thought of when I saw the plant…how nice you have someone to get the door for you if you’re busy but want to let someone in.

Let them in, yes.
But maybe not back out…
