Please feel free to substitute iguana, wombat or naked mole rat for your pet of choice in today’s question.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten is a gentle soul.
.

.
Though he was found wandering the roads by the shelter from which he was adopted, I can’t imagine him ever being a true stray.
.

.
He hides under the bed when company comes.
He runs from the vacuum, my blow dryer and the blender.
Loud noises, the voice of a stranger and barking dogs put him on the edge of a heart attack.
He was even terrified of the Christmas tree.
.

.
But the strangest thing he’s frightened of…
The thing that sends him skidding down the hall in terror every time it’s deployed?
.

.
The white trash bag I pull from a box, shake to loosen and line the kitchen can with. He’ll be halfway across the house… hear that, and run for cover.
It’s bizarre.
So what crazy thing is your pet scared of?
.
Awwe. Poor Lord Dudley.
No pets now. But one of my cats I used to have was terrified to point she wet herself of the ceiling fan. So, that never went on while I had her.

Aww.
I can understand that… poor girl.

It took her some time before she would come out from under the cabinet in the next room. And then she walked with extreme caution, looking up, while entering the room to check it wasn’t on.

aw Lord Dudley pictures❤️Chester is scared of the cooking vent. Once the alarm went off and since then he runs outside whenever I turn it on. Might be my cooking, hmm.

The dog running out of the kitchen when you cook is not a good sign.

What his Lordship is afraid of, Charlie revels in If I leave a trash bag on the floor, Charlie will roll around in it like it’s covered in catnip. What Charlie is afraid of is, the garbage truck that comes every Weds morning. He hates that thing and will hiss from behind the couch when he hears the breaks. Wayne on the other hand is not really scared of anything that I’ve been aware of. He was a true stray, battle scars and all. Now he lives that life of an aristocratic feline. Three squares a day, furr pops, three beds (like Charlie) and three litter boxes.

His Lordship will do that when the oil truck pulls up but only because the driver walks to the rear of the house to fill the tanks. True strays like Wayne revel in the safety of a kind house after life on the streets.

Upon seeing the vacuum cleaner, our cat was gone to as high a floor as accessable to get away from it. Didn’t need to be on, mind you. Just the appearance of it sent our cat northward.

Aww, Dudley.
My one dog, Buddy, is afraid of his own farts. Terrified, actually.
My mom once had a dog who was afraid of laundry baskets.

🤣🤣🤣 My dog was a braveheart. I never saw him afraid of anything. He even tried to take on a stray cow in front of my father, though as soon as my father was inside, he beelined for the door as well.

The garbage bag? I can almost understand that because the sound of them coming out is kinda weird. Poor guy!
Peanut is so afraid of other dogs, humans, etc, and with her fear, she just acts like a Tasmanian devil and goes in for the attack. It’s embarrassing and frustrating.

Dudley is too busy quaking to attack.

That’s so odd – Miss Frankie Lulubelle was also terrified of white large trash bags – she didn’t wait around to hear me open it up – I had the horrible feeling that perhaps when she was a kitten (we adopted when she was around 6 months old from the shelter) someone stuffed her in one. BB was terrified of the opening segment of a British tv show called QI – the theme music would get his attention, one glance at the tv and he was off like a shot – the fastest that great orange lump ever moved!
I don’t recall any of my other cats were particularly bothered by anything. Max, my first cat, a Siamese, would stare down the devil himself!

It’s the shaking open that terrifies him, but by now he knows where they are and what they look like coming out of the box… so he’s off at first sight.
The tv theme is an odd one.
Cats be crazy.

My dogs all freaked out when our kid started playing tuba. They hated it. Also his inflatable T-rex costume.

Boss Cat, on the other hand, freaks out over nothing. If it offends her, she smacks it.

Those are both completely understandable. I’d run from tuba practice too!

We had a cat years ago who was terrified of thunder, fireworks, and any other loud noise. Sid would run downstairs to the basement and hide behind the water heater until he thought the danger had passed.
What Sid was NOT afraid of was the neighbor’s dog. He was convinced that the dog was out to get his humans. It was just a cute, friendly little West Highland Terrier who loved everyone, but if Sid saw it trying to make friends with my kids, he would run over and try to chase the dog away. I guess he thought he was protecting them from a vicious predator. Either that or he was just jealous.

That’s so cute.
We once had a cat who would chase off our backyard deer.
Now that was something to see!
