.
And this time… bring your appetite.
.

.
Would you choose a rich and creamy clam chowder?
.

.
A traditional lobster roll?
(Chilled with mayonnaise or warm with butter on a grilled hot dog bun are the only acceptable choices. No celery, no lettuce, and god forbid no garlic aioli. It’s simple and delicious the way it is, don’t mess with perfection.)
.

.
A full lobster dinner with drawn butter, corn and steamed clams?
(Beer optional, but highly recommended)
.

.
A scrumptious slice of wild blueberry pie?
.

.
Or a perfectly decadent homemade Whoopie pie?
.

.
What’s first on your list?
.
You gotta get a lobster roll in Maine! It is required upon crossing the state line. 😉

True.
I should have added that.

Sad story… I’ve loved and eaten lobster all my life but then came up allergic to it about 8 years ago. It absolutely kills me living here and not being able to eat it.
😩

Oh no! Well at least you’ve still got blueberry pie. That’s my second choice.

And crab, and scallops… I can eat every other seafood. It’s weird.

I’ll have a bowl of chowder, and maybe some lobster, like a tail. Yeah I’m a tourist..

Nothing wrong with that choice. Though the claws are the most tender meat.

I could pay a bit more to get it picked but I can’t do surgery on my dinner. All the crabs in Maryland think I’m a saint.😇

I’d be making a bee-line for a lobster roll, then maybe wild blueberry pie for dessert. But lobster roll is the highest on my list.

Nothing hypothetical about it. After a long day in the saddle I pitched my tent, took a shower, and walked from the Fryeburg fairgrounds to Saco River Brewing Company for a Maine beer.

I would eat in this order Day 1 clam chowder with a full lobster and wild blueberry pie (never had this) Day 2 both hot & cold versions of Lobster Rolls (tried both styles in Massachusetts) Whoopie Pie (We make em damn good here in Pa)

You have Whoopies in Pa?
I didn’t know that…

When we visited friends in PA, the first thing they did was take us to a market to get Whoopie Pies. They also claim to be the inventors.

Interesting.
Upon further research both Maine and Pa claim origin.
Maine Commercial Theory: Labadie’s Bakery in Lewiston, Maine, claims to have sold the first commercial whoopie pies in 1925. Maine is so associated with them that they named the whoopie pie their official state treat.
Pennsylvania Dutch/Amish Theory: Many food historians believe Amish or Pennsylvania Dutch women in Lancaster County, PA, invented them by using leftover cake batter to make handheld treats for farmers. In Pennsylvania, they are traditionally known as “gobs”.
Either way, they’re tasty!

He’s nuts.

Lobster roll. However my real New England favorite is breaded and fried clams which I am not supposed to eat!

Are you sitting down?
$35 – $45.

Wow! I had to look at my Deer Valley lobster roll restaurant. Their top price for their biggest lobster roll is $35 and they fly in lobster from Maine daily!
Here’s a link. My daughter went to college in Utah and that’s when I discovered this place.

Every time we go to Utah I have to have a lobster roll. We usually go each year for a short vacation now that my daughter no longer lives there. When she lived there I went about every other month — we’d get lobster rolls together.

LOL… i had to read earlier comments to understand why you’d eat lobster rolls in Utah!

Gonna have to be bluebery pie for me. I don’t like seafood and whoopiepies look too sweet.

It depends how they’re made. Lots of people cheat and use frosting for filling but it should be freshly whipped cream.
