Let’s play.

.

And this time… bring your appetite.

.

.

Would you choose a rich and creamy clam chowder?

.

.

A traditional lobster roll?

(Chilled with mayonnaise or warm with butter on a grilled hot dog bun are the only acceptable choices. No celery, no lettuce, and god forbid no garlic aioli. It’s simple and delicious the way it is, don’t mess with perfection.)

.

.

A full lobster dinner with drawn butter, corn and steamed clams?

(Beer optional, but highly recommended)

.

.

A scrumptious slice of wild blueberry pie?

.

.

Or a perfectly decadent homemade Whoopie pie?

.

.

What’s first on your list?

.

      1. Sad story… I’ve loved and eaten lobster all my life but then came up allergic to it about 8 years ago. It absolutely kills me living here and not being able to eat it.

  1. I would eat in this order Day 1 clam chowder with a full lobster and wild blueberry pie (never had this) Day 2 both hot & cold versions of Lobster Rolls (tried both styles in Massachusetts) Whoopie Pie (We make em damn good here in Pa)

      1. Interesting.
Upon further research both Maine and Pa claim origin.

Maine Commercial Theory: Labadie’s Bakery in Lewiston, Maine, claims to have sold the first commercial whoopie pies in 1925. Maine is so associated with them that they named the whoopie pie their official state treat.

Pennsylvania Dutch/Amish Theory: Many food historians believe Amish or Pennsylvania Dutch women in Lancaster County, PA, invented them by using leftover cake batter to make handheld treats for farmers. In Pennsylvania, they are traditionally known as “gobs”.

        Either way, they’re tasty!

      1. Every time we go to Utah I have to have a lobster roll. We usually go each year for a short vacation now that my daughter no longer lives there. When she lived there I went about every other month — we’d get lobster rolls together.
