.
If you’ve never read a Stephen King book or watched a Stephen king movie?
Never mind.
.

.
I’ve never been on a cruise, and have no desire to board a floating Petri dish of noro virus contagion… but if forced?
I’d bring John Coffey from The Green Mile, the only Stephen King book that literally made me weep. If you don’t think the master of horror and weirdness can pen a heartfelt and beautiful story? You need to read The Green Mile. I dare you not to choke up when John cures the warden’s wife.
That poor man is in dire need of a vacation.
And if John can’t come, because.. you know, he’s dead?
I’d pick Andy Dufresne and Red, from The Shawshank Redemption. The other King masterpiece that proves he can really write if he wants to.
Andy, Red and me at the bar…. raising a glass to Rita Hayworth, second chances and friendship.
Yeah, I can see that.
How about you…
What Stephen King character are you taking on a cruise?
.
If you would have asked me this before I read your post, I would have said no way. But I had forgotten about The Green Mile. It’s been a long time, but I have seen the film. I mist revisit that film.

It was a very good film. And I wept at the same spot as the book…

I think I’d chill with the movie version of Pete from The Long Walk & Chris Chambers from Stand by Me..both those dudes were wise beyond their years.

Yes, I did.
Good choice. Though he does have a lot of family baggage..

Stephen King wrote Shawshank Redemption? How did I not know that!

He did. Though it was originally a novella titled Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption.

Fun loving guy that I am, I would go with Kurt Barlow from ‘Salem’s Lot (The pale, pointy version from the ’70’s. or, if he can’t make it, Carrie White would be enchanting-for a minute.

A cruise huh? I’d take the big green faced goblin 18-wheeler from Maximum Overdrive. I’d take it back down to where I use to work and wait for a couple of people in the parking lot. Not exactly covert, but who is going to mess with that thing? Not the kind of cruise you were thinking about, but a cruise non the less……😆

I can see how that kind of cruise would be more rewarding…

I’ve tried to read Stephen King but couldn’t stand his books. No likeable characters.
Some of the short stories were pretty good, but overall, given his level of success, I think he’s overrated.

I enjoyed his early stuff but honestly haven’t liked one in years. Green Mile and Shawshank are outliers… very unlike his other works.

Maybe I’ll give one of them a try.
Maybe.

I won’t ever go on a cruise either. And I cried over The Green Mile too. I like your choice. ❤️
