.
After a few months of no stinky visitors, they’re back.
.

.
Skunks.
.

.
Including this almost completely white fellow.
.

.
Above him on the feeders?
.

.
The right and wrong way squirrels.
.

.
One guess who’s wrong.
.

.
Skunks show up early in the morning before the sun is high.
.

.
And early evening right after it’s gone down.
Looks like they even christened the unofficial Mayor of Bath.
.

.
Poor Larry.
😰
.
We had that skunks cousin visiting us last night. He/she wandered up the driveway and scooted across the yard. Too dark for photos, but nice to see.

We have three or four who rotate visits on a regular basis.

The one we have looks like a hognose skunk. Our neighbor got to see its babies in the late spring.

We’ve only seen babies a handful of times. They are beyond cute!

That is sure a beautiful animal!! Too bad they have to be avoided so much. It’s hard to appreciate them from afar.

We’re lucky with these guys. They’re happy and rarely spray…

That’s really good! We smell them here mostly in the wee hours of the morning. I suppose some night prowling predator must try to attack them.

We don’t seem to have skunks in our immediate area, but boy or boy do we know when we’ve come across one. They absolutely leave an impression which is hard to shake.

They certainly make their presence known.

Poor Larry, indeed! Much easier to bathe a dog than a cat.

Virtually impossible. I have the scars to prove it…

I was babysitting my daughter’s pug and I’d let him out in the yard early, early mornings. This was in Palm Springs where we didn’t have dangerous wildlife. He got skunked in the face and it smelled so strong, I though it was battery acid or some chemical. Then he foamed at the mouth while running through our house. What a nightmare! Poor Sunshine!

It’s such an awful smell. And sooooo hard to remove.

I walked around the corner of a building in Fredericton, New Brunswick in the mid-90s, and ran right into a huge cloud of skunk spray, maybe 2 minutes old. Got stray in my eyes, my nose, my mouth and my lungs. Was on my way to my girlfriend’s house. She let me in, but put me right in the bathtub and she scrubbed me down with a brush and something else. Best bath I ever had. Whatever she did, it worked. We slept in the same bed that night.

It’s a powerful perfume, for sure.

Knock on wood, we haven’t had our usual “ugh a skunk” days in the neighborhood. Knock on wood.

Yay for clean fresh air.

I feel the cat’s pain! I got the smell off me, but not out of my outfit (thx for the reminder – gotta try another spray after this).
I try to tell my skunks apart by tail patterns but it’s too hard. I only recognize the momma who has a mange(?) on her back.

Our skunks have quite varied patterns so it’s pretty easy. Good luck with the laundry.

No skunks here. Or sunks either.

They’re stinky, but fun to watch.
