After replacing the empty CO2 canister in our man cave/Barn Mahal kegerator is was time to go keg shopping. For my husband who likes Allagash White, that means a quick trip to Bootleggers distributors and a $99 bill.
For me it means over an hours drive south to Barreled Souls brewery.

With a funky tasting room…

Filled with amusing art…

And an eclectic beer list…

I was disappointed they weren’t tapping my last keg pick…
Little Havana – Sour Fruited Gose. A tropical Gose brewed with Mango, Pineapple, and Guava.
It was perfect for summer, but them not running it forced me to do a couple of flights to choose something different.
.

.
Go ahead, twist my arm.
My pick this time?
Cherry Cobbler – a 6.0% ABV fruited sour ale brewed with cherries, vanilla, and graham cracker. Tastes like freshly baked cherry cobbler with a tart and pastry-like finish. Weird, but wonderful.
Price tag of the limited run small batch craft keg?$240.
My husband groaned accordingly.

After we strapped her in for the journey home.
Cheers!

The keg strapped into your back seat looks like a giant beer can. There’s some untapped (haha) advertising potential: wrap kegs to look like giant Miller Cans, old Schlitz cans, Hamms cans. Quirky and fun. Please cut me in for 5% when you take that idea and run with it.

Will do.
Though I wouldn’t start planning that world wide tour just yet…

I prefer to keep my beer and fruit separate. Even if I did like a fruity beer, I can’t imagine drinking a ¼ barrel of it. You can drink my share! I hope you enjoy it and, like Maxwell House, it’s good to the last drop.

Well, I do share with friends if they ask nicely.

That looks like a fun place to visit with the art and wide variety of beer.

The keg surely appreciated that first-class transportation care. I am now hungry for cobbler. Love that Barreled Souls name for their business.

My son-in-law Mike is a beer enthusiast as is my husband to some degree. I will ask Mike if he has ever heard of Barreled Souls in Saco.

They’re small batch and don’t have a very wide distribution. Worth a visit if you’re in the area though. There’s a food truck and outdoor seating as well.

I asked my son-in-law, and he told me he has been there many times. Not surprised!

I like it because they have weird beers and lots of sours which I love. They’re not afraid to experiment.

That’s why my son-in-law likes it, too.

Wow. That better be good, and I hope you don’t grow tired of it. Cute to see it strapped in. Would’ve been amusing had you been pulled over. 😛 Choosing a favorite sounds like fun.
We love fruit sours also. Sadly, our favorite brewery, Wild Barrel, closed down. 😦

Thankfully the kegerator keeps it fresh for a long time. I like beer, but it takes me 3 times as long to empty mine as it does the husband.

It would take me 3x longer too.

I’m not a beer drinker but that does sound good.

It’s really odd with the graham cracker finish, but so good!

If you happen across Smog City’s Tiki Time Whoosh hard seltzer, give it a try! Fruity & refreshing for a hot day. If you like strong/dark, Infinite Wishes (any variety/year, except licorice) and Bourbon O.E. are fantastic!!
I used to want a kegerator but now that I tend to drink till booze is gone, even a mini keg would be a bad thing!!
I applaud your selection and making the purchase despite the price tag!

I’m not really a seltzer fan in general. Too much fizz not enough flavor. And if we didn’t build the Barn Mahal/ msn cave, I never would have bought a kegerator. But when you have a full bar? It fits.

I don’t care for seltzers either. Tiki was more like a Mike’s Hard Lemonade.
