Let’s play.

.

Because everyone likes Fridays.

.

.

The way things are going? That’s probably what it will take to fill my oil tanks for the winter.

😩

But if I have to use it for something fun and frivolous it would be one of two things….

A fabulously flashy red sports car for the husband. The man loves to drive, and though his hair may be grey… he still loves to drive fast.

.

.

Yeah, he’d look good in that.

Though I’ll have to wait for my new knee before I attempt exiting that low slung beast.

And if I don’t buy him a sports car? We’ll take a fabulous tour of Europe, first class all the way.

.

.

Back to France because we both loved it the first time. Italy for the food and Roman history. Austria for the Alps and my very large but never met mother’s side of the family. Ending in Britain to explore English castles, Irish pubs and my father’s Scottish roots.

Now you-

If you had to spend $100,000 on something fun, what would it be?

  1. First thing I would do would be to call a landscaper/gardener and have my whole area transformed into exactly the surroundings I have been trying to create for years. The labor plus the cost of new trees and plants would probably use up most of the sum.

      1. Yep, a cook would be nice too. I like to cook, but I could let her do the boring stuff and I could just piddle in the kitchen whenever I felt like it. 👍👍😜

  2. I’d plan a lavish and exciting trip for the entire family!! We love traveling together, but the kids have a different budget than ours, and this way we could pay for everything.

  3. Until midnight? That’s pretty quick to spend all that money. Maybe I would just give it away to someone or some organization that really needs it . Might not be everyone’s idea of fun, but it would bring me great joy to be able to to part with so much money.

      1. Haha! If that’s what it takes, that’s what I’ll do! 😀

(Also, the reason she needs the yard is because she loves to garden and is a genius at growing vegetables and herbs. If I get her the house with the yard, she can move out of the crummy apartment she’s living in and become an organic farmer, and I will have unlimited free fresh produce all summer long. Yum!)

  4. How odd. Gail and I just came into a windfall lately. Gail has no family, she is the last branch on her tree limb. !and I have no children either. My twig broke off, but the rest of the limb is covered with new branches, and new branched off them. I have nieces and nephews up the yinyang. Some I have never met, they live distantly. After talking it over, I split it into shares and divvied it up equally to all of them. I etransfered the money to their bank account (so they knew something was up, but not the amounts) and in the etansfer I said “Do something fun and frivolous with this gift. Enjoy it now, while you are young enough to use it, and while we are still alive to hear the stories.” (They did not have to spend it all in one night.) Some refused it, their father, my brother, abused them and their mother, and rightly hated him. It was their choice and I honoured it. One other nephew, a sister’s son, had breezed through his mother’s life saving after he put her in a home. He was not offered a penny. Everyone else accepted our “living bequests,” not involving wills or lawyers, accountants, or courts.
Not everyone got back to us to say how they spent their money if they did. One nephew and his wife probably spent most of theirs in a casino, but thay would have enjoyed themselves giving it away. Most everyone that got back to me took vacations, Spain, Mexico, Hawaii, wherever. Some of them just travelled across Canada. I think some of them just passed it down to their kids. They never said.
But it felt good knowing others could spend our money however they chose to.

Me: $100k, I would buy thoroughbred or quarter horses, pay training fees and vet fees for 2 years in advance, and sit back and watch them run. Nothing with great breeding, just regular horses that run at regular tracks. Any purses they won would be invested in their futures, even after we are gone.

      1. Loved them most of my life. Was taken to a race track in 1960. Fell in love. The problem, the best horses are so full of “legal” enhancers it is hard to beat them, but we absolutely say NO to anything unnatural, so we haven’t )been running them in quite a while.. The one trainer we trusted retired, and no one else will agree to our terms. So, they are growing up or growing old on the farm (not ours) and slowly being developed into jumpers (Equestrian) or show horses. (One is breeding stock).

  5. A first-class European tour exploring family roots in Austria and castles in Britain sounds like the absolute dream way to spend $100k! Reading rawgod’s comment about distributing ‘living bequests’ to family—alongside his dream of racehorses—was such an incredible story. Fantastic Friday prompt, Rivergirl!

By the me: “I seriously don’t know… nothing comes to mind… nada” 😉

  6. The time now is 10:48 PM so I have to be quick. I(‘m going downtown to find a homeless vet I kind of know. I’m in the habit of emptying my pockets whenever I see him. It would bring me great joy to do it again.

  7. It’s 8:30 p.m. here.
I guess could at least get a car before a Dealership closes and maybe order gifts and miscellaneous online. I would also have to get hold of some friends quickly to schedule some trips to visit. I would really love to buy some property to open a Cat Adoption Center bit won’t have time for that and most homeless shelters are closed to visitors so I guess the rest is going to friends and any homeless on the street since there are a lot of them. Of course, I can also give some to a friend and have him write a check or checks to me so I can put it in the bank tomorrow to give myself some extra time..if that’s acceptable.
